which we are. We found there that that church
turned its back upon God and joined itself to
Caesar in order to put Christ out of the way and to
execute their mind concerning him. Then the Lord
called out of that church and nation all who would
obey Him, all who would serve Him, before the
nation was destroyed and He did that work by
those few disciples that believed in Jesus when He
ascended to heaven. They had been with Jesus
three years and a half; they had preached. They had
even performed miracles in His name. He had sent
them to preach, saying "The kingdom of heaven is
at hand"; and so important was their message that
if the place did not receive them, they were to
shake the dust off from their feet before they left.
Yet before they could preach the gospel which
He gave them to preach, when He ascended to
heaven He said, "Tarry ye at Jerusalem until ye be
endued with power from on high." Would not we
have thought that their being with Christ three
years and a half, hearing Him, loving Him,
studying Him and with Him, having been taught by
Him this length of time, and having even preached-
