JAZER 325
MD 325/1.1 a Son of Japheth, who was one of Noah's three sons (Gen. 10:2). b A Gentile
country or place (Isa. 66:19; Ezek. 27:13). In Daniel 8:21, 10:20, and 11:2, Javan is given in
the margin in place of "Greece," which is in the text.
MD 325/1.2 Meta. Javan is a name that the Hebrews of old gave to Greece. The original
inhabitants of Greece are supposed to have been descendants of Javan the son of Japheth.
Javan therefore refers to the human or personal intellect in man, and to one of its governing
characteristics, the deceptive, error belief (clayey soil, deception) that understanding is gained
by the impressions of the senses in contacting the outer world, by books, teachers, and
experiences, instead of its knowing that true understanding comes from the Spirit of God
within the soul of man.
MD 325/1.3 In its broadest sense Javan refers to the spiritual phase of intelligence, or to the
illumined and inspired intellect; hence, the idea of the East, fertility, productiveness.
MD 325/1.4 Jazer (in A. V., Numbers 21:32, Jaazer), ja'-zer (Heb.)--whom He (God) helps; he
will succor; helpful; shielding; aiding; protecting.
MD 325/1.5 A place east of the Jordan that the Israelites took from the Amorites (Num.
21:32). It is mentioned with the land of Gilead (Num. 32:1), and in David's reign some of his
Hebronite mighty men of valor were found at Jazer of Gilead (I Chron. 26:31).
MD 325/1.6 Meta. Gilead signifies a high place in consciousness where Spirit discerns and
witnesses to Truth and to all of man's thoughts and acts, that perfect adjustment may be made
throughout mind and body.
MD 325/1.7 Hebron signifies the front brain, the seat of conscious thought.
MD 325/1.8 Jazer represents the deliverance, strength, and sustenance (help) that come to
each individual who consciously lays hold of spiritual Truth.
MD 325/1.9 Jaziz, ja'-ziz (Heb.)--whom He (God) moves; movement; animation; life;
abundance; an abundant breast, i. e., overflowing; brightness; brilliance; prominence;
splendor.

MD 325/2.1 Meta. A Hagrite is a descendant of Hagar through Ishmael, or a thought
belonging to the Hagar and Ishmael consciousness in man. Hagar is the natural soul. Ishmael
signifies the thoughts that are the fruit of the personal; they belong to the outer, seemingly
mortal man.
MD 325/2.2 The flocks of King David are sheep, and they represent the pure, natural life
thoughts and forces of the organism.
MD 325/2.3 Jaziz the Hagrite, who had charge of these flocks, signifies the central thought or
belief of the seemingly mortal man regarding life and its activities lifted to its highest and
purest phase on the human plane; it is not yet raised to true spiritual understanding, though it
recognizes Spirit as being back of all life action (whom He moves; animation; life) and back of
all supply for man (abundance; an abundant breast, i. e., overflowing).
MD 325/2.4 Jearim, je'-a-rim (Heb.)--thickets; forests; woods; overflowing; honeycombs;
abundances.
MD 325/2.5 A mountain on the northern border of Judah (Josh. 15:10). It was covered with
woods.
MD 325/2.6 Meta. Unifying thoughts in consciousness (thickets, woods, forests), raised to a
high plane (mountain) of Truth realization, thus making union with Spirit mind; the result of this
union with Spirit is a consciousness of abundance of good (overflowing honeycombs,
