He is now seeking a fourth term in the April 4 election, and is challenged by former village trustee Todd Morgan. “[It’s] a chance to hear them, figure out their similarities and differences, and [for residents to ] find out for themselves what their choices are," said Marcia Steward, OTHA secretary. The Q&A will be open to all residents, and those in attendance will be able to submit questions to the mayoral and board candidates in person. Steward said it will be moderated by OTHA President Mark Adams. Current trustees Keith Ogle, Richard Trevarthan and R. Douglas Walker are being challenged by John Clavio and Samuel Giordano. Steward said the association is particularly concerned with maintaining the historical integrity of the downtown district. Some downtown developments have been questioned over the past few years by the board and residents after the Village granted ordinance variances allowing for different building materials or front yard setbacks. Last December, the Village Board unanimously denied a variance request for a cupola to be built on top of a downtown home, which would have been about 10 feet higher than current ordinance allows. The Village recently approved a downtown preservation initiative rewarding residents who upgrade and maintain their downtown homes.
