Le 12 août 1904, âgé de trente-six<br />
ans, Van Morrell se porta<br />
volontaire de marcher sur un câble<br />
d’acier tendu au-dessus des chutes et de<br />
la Gorge constituant un parcours de 120<br />
mètres. Pour maintenir son équilibre, le<br />
funambule se balançait à l’aide d’une<br />
longue perche de 6 mètres. Il présenta<br />
tout un spectacle à la foule rassemblée.<br />
Parcourez les sentiers pédestres le long<br />
de la Gorge et trouvez l’anneau de métal<br />
qui a servi à sécuriser son câble.<br />

Grand-Sault où vous pourrez percevoir<br />
la perche utilisée par Van Morrell lors<br />

On August 12 th 1904, thirty-six–year old<br />
Van Morrell volunteered to walk 120<br />
meters on a steel cable stretched over<br />
the falls and Gorge. He carried a 6-metre<br />
long pipe to use as his balancing pole.<br />
The tight-rope walker exhibited quite a<br />
demonstration to the on-looking crowd.<br />
Explore the walking trails along the<br />
Gorge and find the metal ring that was<br />
used to secure his cable.<br />
