SKILL. KNOWLEDGE. A KILLER
RÉSUMÉ. CONFIDENCE.
It takes all four—with a healthy dose of
grit and determination—to realize your
leadership potential. Students can build
all four with a bachelor’s or master’s
degree in their chosen field.
We need more women at the head of the
leadership table. It’s good for business,
good for the economy, and good for
all of us as a culture. That’s why WGU
Nevada and the Women’s Chamber
of Commerce of Nevada have created
the Women’s Chamber Leadership
Scholarship. Each award is worth $2,500
for women who are ready to ramp up
their careers, break through that glass
ceiling, and share what they have to offer
the workplace. If you are ready to take
your education to the next level, apply by
May 17, 2017.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this scholarship, students
must:
• Have a plan for achieving leadership—
and be able to explain how a degree fits
into that plan.
• Complete an application for admission.
• Complete a scholarship application.
• Submit official transcripts of all prior
college work.
• Complete the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA).
This is a competitive program. Recipients
will be chosen based upon their academic
record, financial need, readiness for online
study, and current competency, plus other
considerations.
ELIGIBLE PROGRAMS
All bachelor’s and master’s programs:
VEGAS PBS ANNOUNCES
ANNUAL PBS KIDS
WRITERS CONTEST
Southern Nevada Children in Grades K-5 Encouraged
to Submit Original Stories
(Las Vegas) – Vegas PBS is accepting original story
submissions for the 2017 PBS KIDS Writers Contest,
which is designed to promote the advancement
of children’s literacy skills through hands-on,
interactive learning.
Submissions will be judged for originality, creative
expression, storytelling technique, illustrations
and overall impression. The top three winners in
each grade level will be honored at a recognition
ceremony at Vegas PBS in which the awardees will
learn their placements. Prizes include a trophy,
framed enlargements of their work and additional
reading and writing resources, all sponsored by
Janice Allen. First place winners will also receive a
scholarship to attend the Southern Nevada Writing
Project’s Summer Youth Writing Camp, a five-day
program allowing students to enhance their talents
and build their confidence as storytellers under the
guidance of skilled educators who possess a passion
for teaching writing.
“One of the greatest benefits of the PBS KIDS Writers
Contest is the creative freedom children are granted
for their stories,” said Vegas PBS Ready To Learn
Coordinator Jessica Russell. “It allows them to write
about anything their imagination holds, giving us a
glimpse into their inventive minds.”
Stories are due Friday, April 7, 2017 by 5 p.m. All
story entries must include a signed entry form by a
parent/guardian. Stories can be mailed or delivered
to Vegas PBS Ready To Learn, 3050 E. Flamingo
Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89121.
For more information or to view the rules and entry
form, visit VegasPBS.org/writers-contest.
