Johnson. The book is an<br />

inspiration to embrace change.<br />

Change can be confusing and<br />

mostly frustrating if handled<br />

incorrectly or even if addressed<br />

incorrectly. We have companies<br />

and individuals nowadays<br />

specialising in Change<br />

Management. These companies<br />

or individuals are there to assist<br />

and encourage a work<br />

environment that embraces<br />

change.<br />

A few years ago a new CEO<br />

joined the company I was working<br />

for and immediately started<br />

analysing the company<br />

environment, its employees and<br />

its future possibilities. She sees a<br />

need to restructure the company<br />

from the way it does business to<br />

the roles each employee has. She<br />

has a vision in terms of which<br />

employees should be performing<br />

what roles in the organisation.<br />

Immediately she started hiring<br />

people for new roles and for<br />

existing ones. Now, when one<br />

hires someone else for an existing<br />

role, one has to move the person<br />

currently in that role to a different<br />

role and help them embrace the<br />

change. This is not what<br />

happened in this particular case;<br />

the existing employees were not<br />

helped to embrace the change<br />

that came with the vision. This<br />

resulted in resistance, or should I<br />

say resignations and a loss of<br />

valuable employees.<br />

is designed to help individuals<br />

faced with change to embrace the<br />

change without the assistance of<br />
