SCHADT STRING COMPETITION<br />
Begun in 1997 following a bequest to the Allentown<br />
Symphony Association from Edwin H. and Leigh W.<br />
Schadt, the competition alternates annually among<br />
violin, cello, and classical guitar. The first prize<br />
includes a cash award of $8,000 and a solo concerto<br />
engagement with the Allentown Symphony<br />
Orchestra.<br />

ELIGIBILITY<br />
Candidates should be at least 18 years of age and<br />
not have their reached 31st birthday by December<br />
18, 2017; they must be a current resident/citizen of<br />
the U.S. Proof of citizenship, student visa, or green<br />
card is required. Competition is not open to prior<br />
first-place winners of the Schadt String Competition.<br />
