The competition was founded in 1988 by Carmela<br />
Altamura. Its first president was mezzo-soprano<br />
Giulietta Simionato. The competition’s philosophy is<br />
to use the arts for the improvement of social, ethnic,<br />
cultural, and professional relations in the world. This<br />
year’s winners will go to Europe for performance<br />
engagements.<br />
