Road Race
Houston pupils are on a winning
streak. At the recent Road Race at the
On-X in Linwood, the pupils scooped
up trophies and medals galore! The
stars of the day were P7’s Brodie
Gillanders and Cate Meiklejohn, and
P6’s Lily Caldwell and Jamie Newton.
Well done to all of the other athletes
who participated.
December was a very busy month in the lead up to Christmas. On 5th
December we held our Christmas fayre and in spite of the bad weather, the
turnout was excellent. Children and parents enjoyed; tombolas, raffles, home
baking, tea and coffee, face painting,
craft stall, decorations made by the
children, Christmas Wishes present
wrapping and a special visit from
Santa. Thanks very much to everyone
who supported us and helped to raise
over £1,750 for Nursery funds.
Our Christmas show ‘Where’s Rudolph’
took place on 10th December with all
the children taking part enthusiastically
much to the delight
of a packed
audience of
parents/relatives
and friends.
The nursery reopens
on Thursday
7th January.

Camera Competition
Roma Crichton of P7 won first
place at the annual Gryffe Camera
Club competition with a beautiful
photograph of the Isle of Craig, in
second place was Jack Nelson with
a stunning sunflower and 3rd place
Emma Corr with a fabulous fish. The
school won the overall prize and were
presented with an amazing trophy in
the shape of a camera.
Christmas Celebrations
The nursery pupils performed ‘A Very ‘Beary’ Christmas’ on Thursday 10th
December. Great fun was enjoyed by all.
P1-3’s Christmas shows were also a success. The dress rehearsals were
a great fun and the costumes looked amazing. Many thanks to the very
talented teachers who worked very hard to prepare the children for their
performances.
The Junior Choir also had their version of ‘Snow White and the Seven
Dwarves’ and the senior choir performed ‘Cinderella and Rockerfella’
pantomime. Many thanks and congratulations to all the pupils, you all
deserve to be very proud of yourselves.

are now behind us, may we

wish everyone a Happy New
Year!
We recently held our first Headteacher’s Tea party to recognise pupils
in school who are good role models. The special event was enjoyed
by all the selected pupils who had a special tea with Mrs McCredie
in her room.
The last few weeks were spent in preparation of Christmas events.
We held our annual Spirit of Christmas event, organised by our PTF.
This year, due to an encouraging turnout by parents and friends, we
raised a total of £1,200. Our thanks go to all who helped to organise
and run the event and to all parents who came along to support us
on the night.
Our Nativity afternoons were very well received by everyone who
came along to enjoy
the efforts of P.1-3,
who performed
“Whoops - A -Daisy
Angel” and by our
P4-7 pupils who
entertained us with
a variety of carols
and Christmas
songs.
Well done to all of
our boys and girls
and to the staff
who worked hard
to prepare the
children.
