All too soon our holiday was coming to an end. On the last
morning, we took a ride out to Arlington National Cemetery. It
was a peaceful place to wander through and see the resting place
of some of the famous American presidents, politicians and
national heroes. It is also the site of the former home of the
Confederate General Robert E. Lee and a most interesting and
informative place to visit.
My visit to the Eastern U.S.A. certainly exceeded my
expectations. I have returned home with a much deeper
knowledge of American history and some very happy memories
of glorious fall colours, wonderful buildings and interesting
conversations.
