2016 2017 BOARD OF DIRECTORS OUR MISSION Coby Mahan President We are a society of avid hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who are dedicated to promoting responsible use of our natural resources. We care about hunting, fishing, wildlife and outdoor experiences within the natural environment we all live in and enjoy. We are passionate about protecting and conserving the outdoors and its resources for generations to come. Through our parent organization - Safari Club International - we promote and present a number of wildlife conservation and humanitarian efforts within our community, and support Safari Club International in their endeavors toward ensuring hunting rights are protected worldwide. PRESIDENT`S MESSAGE Hello Members, SCI convention is once again over for this year. As I attended various meetings, there was a lot of talk at convention this year about the constant attacks on your right to hunt in North America. These attacks in Canada and especially British Columbia and Alberta are at an all time high. B.C. is about to have a provincial election and the GO ABC is raising the alarm about a very possible NDP government getting back in. The NDP have promised to close the grizzly bear hunt in British Columbia, thus ever stopping the chance of Alberta’s grizzly hunt from ever reopening. Something that would have happened had we not elected an NDP government in Alberta. At the Board Meeting, SCI Chapters offered up $60,000 to help Go ABC to try and stop the grizzly closure in British Columbia. Back here in Alberta there is a Calgary based man who has started an organization to end trophy hunting in Africa, and as well right here in your back yard Alberta. He is well funded and is a serious threat to our rights as hunters (read more about this in the newsletter). I believe the time is in front of us to support hunting like never before. Please consider donating to the United Hunters Fund, supporting SCI and our local chapter. Your way of life is depending on it. Fight the antis who are so eager to attack it.
