HILTZ, ANDREA, BAA
Andrea recently took on a new job as
Community Home Visitor with the
Dartmouth Family Centre. She has two
children: Tristan (9) and Dylan (6).
2002
BUOTT, DEBBIE, BPR
Debbie and Peter are pleased to
announce that Caleb John Matheson
was born on Saturday, February 3rd at
8:22am. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 12
ounces, and was 21 inches long.
GOMEZ, GERALDINE, BSc
Geraldine defended her PhD thesis on
December 15, 2006. Her work (“The
Amino Terminus of Mutant Huntingtin
Causes Transcriptional Dysregulation”)
was supervised by Dr. Eileen Denovan-
Wright of the Department of
Pharmacology, Dalhousie. Geraldine
received support for her doctoral
studies from a variety of sources,
including NSERC and the Izaak Walton
Killam Predoctoral scholarship.
MACDONALD, NADIA, BBA
Nadia, past captain of the Mystics
Basketball team, has been recently
promoted to Regional Marketing
Manager, Eastern Ontario, for the TDL
Group i.e. Tim Hortons. She was
originally hired by TDL in Debert, NS, as
Marketing Coordinator for the Atlantic
Region. She currently resides in Ottawa,
ON.
MOTHANA, BELQUIS, BSc
Belquis successfully defended her PhD
thesis on December 4, 2006. Her PhD
work (“Density Functional Theory
Studies on Chemistry and Properties of
Selected Pyrrole Molecules”) was
carried out under the supervision of Dr.
Russell J. Boyd of the Dalhousie
Department of Chemistry. Belquis
received support for her doctoral
studies from a variety of sources,
including NSERC and the Izaak Walton
Killam Predoctoral scholarship.
SHARMA, SHASHI, BBA, CGA
Shashi recently earned her professional
designation as a Certified General
Accountant. With these three letters,
she has earned international respect as
a professional accountant with the
latest skills.
2003
FERGUSON, RYAN, BBA
Ryan recently received his CA
designation and was recognized at the
Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia
convocation.
GREEN, AMANDA, BBA
Following graduation from MSVU,
Amanda enrolled in the Bachelor of
Nursing (Collaborative) Program at
Memorial University of Newfoundland.
She graduated in May 2007 with her
BN and has accepted a position as a
critical care nurse in Newfoundland
as of April.
DEVEAU, KELLY, BPR
Since graduation, Kelly has been
working with Icon Communications, a
marketing and communications agency
based in Sydney, Cape Breton. She
recently moved to rural Inverness
County, just outside Cheticamp on the
beautiful Cabot Trail, where she
continues to work for Icon long distance
via the wonders of the Internet.

DUPRE, SARAH, BTHM
After MSVU, Sarah graduated from the
University of East London with a Master
of Science in International Marketing
Management. She is currently residing
in Saint Lucia and working in Public
Service with the Government of Saint
Lucia.
IRVING, AMANDA, BA
Amanda, a first year student in the
MSVU BEd Secondary program, is this
year’s winner of the Nova Scotia Social
Studies Teacher’s Association
Scholarship. The scholarship is
awarded annually to the BEd student in
Nova Scotia who exhibits excellence
and commitment in the study and
teaching of social studies.
2005
FULFORD, LORIE, BAA
Lorie and Scott Mason met in 2003 while
they were both taking Child and Youth
Study at MSVU. Today, they have a 1
year-old baby boy names Tyler. Scott is
a youth care worker in Ottawa and Lorie
works as a teacher in Renfrew, ON.
KEHOE, MOLLY, BPR
Molly is currently working as a
Communications Assistant with Queen’s
University in Kingston, Ontario.
MACDONALD, KIMBERLY, BA
Kimberly is currently an ESL teacher in
South Korea. She plans on going to the
University of Otago in New Zealand in
September 2007 to study archaeology
under the direction of Dr. Charles
Higham, leading archaeologist and
academic on the subject of Angkor and
Mainland Southeast Asia. From there
she plans on getting her MA in
Archaeology.

WOMEN OF DISTINCTION AWARD 2007 (YMCA)
SHARON HAMPSON, CM, DHumL ’96
Best known for her music with the popular children’s trio Sharon,
Lois and Bram, she is also a three-time cancer survivor. Sharon
and a group of determined women founded Willow Breast
Cancer Support Canada, a community-based, survivor-driven
information and support services centre. Sharon received the
award in the Health category.
ANN MEDINA, DHumL ’04
An Emmy award-winning journalist, Ann was recognized for
‘telling it as it is’ and received the award in the Communications
category.
The Women of Distinction Awards were presented by the YMCA
of Toronto at a ceremony on May 29, 2007.
