HILTZ, ANDREA, BAA<br />
Andrea recently took on a new job as<br />
Community Home Visitor with the<br />
Dartmouth Family Centre. She has two<br />
children: Tristan (9) and Dylan (6).<br />
2002<br />
BUOTT, DEBBIE, BPR<br />
Debbie and Peter are pleased to<br />
announce that Caleb John Matheson<br />
was born on Saturday, February 3rd at<br />
8:22am. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 12<br />
ounces, and was 21 inches long.<br />
GOMEZ, GERALDINE, BSc<br />
Geraldine defended her PhD thesis on<br />
December 15, 2006. Her work (“The<br />
Amino Terminus of Mutant Huntingtin<br />
Causes Transcriptional Dysregulation”)<br />
was supervised by Dr. Eileen Denovan-<br />
Wright of the Department of<br />
Pharmacology, Dalhousie. Geraldine<br />
received support for her doctoral<br />
studies from a variety of sources,<br />
including NSERC and the Izaak Walton<br />
Killam Predoctoral scholarship.<br />
MACDONALD, NADIA, BBA<br />
Nadia, past captain of the Mystics<br />
Basketball team, has been recently<br />
promoted to Regional Marketing<br />
Manager, Eastern Ontario, for the TDL<br />
Group i.e. Tim Hortons. She was<br />
originally hired by TDL in Debert, NS, as<br />
Marketing Coordinator for the Atlantic<br />
Region. She currently resides in Ottawa,<br />
ON.<br />
MOTHANA, BELQUIS, BSc<br />
Belquis successfully defended her PhD<br />
thesis on December 4, 2006. Her PhD<br />
work (“Density Functional Theory<br />
Studies on Chemistry and Properties of<br />
Selected Pyrrole Molecules”) was<br />
carried out under the supervision of Dr.<br />
Russell J. Boyd of the Dalhousie<br />
Department of Chemistry. Belquis<br />
received support for her doctoral<br />
studies from a variety of sources,<br />
including NSERC and the Izaak Walton<br />
Killam Predoctoral scholarship.<br />
SHARMA, SHASHI, BBA, CGA<br />
Shashi recently earned her professional<br />
designation as a Certified General<br />
Accountant. With these three letters,<br />
she has earned international respect as<br />
a professional accountant with the<br />
latest skills.<br />
2003<br />
FERGUSON, RYAN, BBA<br />
Ryan recently received his CA<br />
designation and was recognized at the<br />
Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia<br />
convocation.<br />
GREEN, AMANDA, BBA<br />
Following graduation from MSVU,<br />
Amanda enrolled in the Bachelor of<br />
Nursing (Collaborative) Program at<br />
Memorial <strong>University</strong> of Newfoundland.<br />
She graduated in May 20<strong>07</strong> with her<br />
BN and has accepted a position as a<br />
critical care nurse in Newfoundland<br />
as of April.<br />
DEVEAU, KELLY, BPR<br />
Since graduation, Kelly has been<br />
working with Icon Communications, a<br />
marketing and communications agency<br />
based in Sydney, Cape Breton. She<br />
recently moved to rural Inverness<br />
County, just outside Cheticamp on the<br />
beautiful Cabot Trail, where she<br />
continues to work for Icon long distance<br />
via the wonders of the Internet.<br />
2004<br />
DUPRE, SARAH, BTHM<br />
After MSVU, Sarah graduated from the<br />
<strong>University</strong> of East London with a Master<br />
of Science in International Marketing<br />
Management. She is currently residing<br />
in <strong>Saint</strong> Lucia and working in Public<br />
Service with the Government of <strong>Saint</strong><br />
Lucia.<br />
IRVING, AMANDA, BA<br />
Amanda, a first year student in the<br />
MSVU BEd Secondary program, is this<br />
year’s winner of the Nova Scotia Social<br />
Studies Teacher’s Association<br />
Scholarship. The scholarship is<br />
awarded annually to the BEd student in<br />
Nova Scotia who exhibits excellence<br />
and commitment in the study and<br />
teaching of social studies.<br />
2005<br />
FULFORD, LORIE, BAA<br />
Lorie and Scott Mason met in 2003 while<br />
they were both taking Child and Youth<br />
Study at MSVU. Today, they have a 1<br />
year-old baby boy names Tyler. Scott is<br />
a youth care worker in Ottawa and Lorie<br />
works as a teacher in Renfrew, ON.<br />
KEHOE, MOLLY, BPR<br />
Molly is currently working as a<br />
Communications Assistant with Queen’s<br />
<strong>University</strong> in Kingston, Ontario.<br />
MACDONALD, KIMBERLY, BA<br />
Kimberly is currently an ESL teacher in<br />
South Korea. She plans on going to the<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Otago in New Zealand in<br />
September 20<strong>07</strong> to study archaeology<br />
under the direction of Dr. Charles<br />
Higham, leading archaeologist and<br />
academic on the subject of Angkor and<br />
Mainland Southeast Asia. From there<br />
she plans on getting her MA in<br />
Archaeology.<br />

WOMEN OF DISTINCTION AWARD 20<strong>07</strong> (YMCA)<br />
SHARON HAMPSON, CM, DHumL ’96<br />
Best known for her music with the popular children’s trio Sharon,<br />
Lois and Bram, she is also a three-time cancer survivor. Sharon<br />
and a group of determined women founded Willow Breast<br />
Cancer Support Canada, a community-based, survivor-driven<br />
information and support services centre. Sharon received the<br />
award in the Health category.<br />
ANN MEDINA, DHumL ’04<br />
An Emmy award-winning journalist, Ann was recognized for<br />
‘telling it as it is’ and received the award in the Communications<br />
category.<br />
The Women of Distinction Awards were presented by the YMCA<br />
of Toronto at a ceremony on May 29, 20<strong>07</strong>.<br />
