The best grapplers in <strong>the</strong> region ga<strong>the</strong>red in Astana<br />
on February 27 for a full day of Jiu-Jitsu. Hundreds<br />
of athletes took on to <strong>the</strong> mats to compete for<br />
travel packages for <strong>the</strong> 2017 Abu Dhabi World<br />
Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, scheduled<br />
April 18-22, in Abu Dhabi. In <strong>the</strong> teams competition,<br />
results were: 1st – Atos JJ (2300pts), 2nd - Strella<br />
Alliance (2270pts), 3rd – Khazakstahn National<br />
Team (670pts), 4th - Checkmat International<br />
(450pts), 5th – Gracie Barra Almaty (310pts), 6th –<br />
Gracie Barra Nice (160pts).<br />

The Japanese community ga<strong>the</strong>red at <strong>the</strong> Riverside Sports<br />
Center on February 26 to compete for travel packages<br />
for <strong>the</strong> 2017 Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu<br />
Championship, scheduled April 18-22, in Abu Dhabi. It<br />
was a full day of matches in Tokyo. In <strong>the</strong> adult male black<br />
belt division, Akira Hosokawa won <strong>the</strong> light open class,<br />
Daisuke Shiraki won <strong>the</strong> 85kg division and <strong>the</strong> heavy open<br />
class. In <strong>the</strong> teams competition, results were 1st – Axis JJ<br />
(2070pts), 2nd – DCBS (770pts), 3rd - Carpe Diem BJJ<br />
(470pts), 4th – Paraestra GIFU (240pts), 5th – Chidori BJJ<br />
(210pts), 6th – Carpe Diem Hope (20pts).<br />
After a very successful edition of <strong>the</strong><br />
Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World<br />
Tour, <strong>the</strong> Japanese community ga<strong>the</strong>red<br />
once again for a full day of Jiu-Jitsu at<br />
Fukuoka, on January 20. The Sendai<br />
International Open featured some of <strong>the</strong><br />
best competitors in <strong>the</strong> country fighting<br />
for valuable points in <strong>the</strong> UAEJJF annual<br />
ranking. Kyuhwa Kim beat Masafumi<br />
Takahashi for <strong>the</strong> adult male brown belt<br />
open class title. In <strong>the</strong> teams division,<br />
Axis Jiu-Jitsu Academy finished first with<br />
1500pts, followed by DCBS with 320pts<br />
and Waka BJJ with 40pts.<br />
