CFISD student filmmakers and actors wrap a day of filming their short film,
“Behind the Scenes,” at Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union. The film, created
by Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods students, is a finalist in the Texas
High School Shorts competition at South by Southwest.
STUDENT FINALISTS IN SXSW COMPETITION
PARTNER WITH CY-FAIR FCU
A film created by Cypress Ranch High School students, “Behind the
Scenes,” has been selected as a finalist for the Texas High School Shorts
competition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin.
The fictional dark comedy film features a unique twist on a bank robbery
and was partially filmed at the Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union Jones
Road location through a partnership with Cy-Fair FCU President/CEO
Cameron Dickey. Cypress Ranch audio/video production (AVP) teacher
Dustin Boucher worked with student filmmakers Ricky Martinez, Jake
Billard, Sierra Marlborough, Blake Medlin, Paul Shank and Cypress
Woods student Cami Beardmore to produce the film. Cypress Falls AVP
teacher Rakesh Jacob also helped collaborate on the effort.
As part of the partnership, the students also worked with Cy-Fair FCU
to create a commercial promoting the credit union’s new virtual teller
machines (VTMs). CFISD teachers Boucher, Jacob, Butch Stephens of
Cypress Park, Sherry Frank of Cypress Falls and Lori Andrade of Cypress
Woods assisted in the production of the commercial.
Dickey made a cameo in the film as the bank manager. “Working with
this amazingly talented group of storytellers at CFISD Cinema - students,
teachers, credit union employees (and even a cameo by the Cy-Fair
Houston Chamber of Commerce President Leslie Martone) - it is one
of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had. “What they came up with is
just so fun, silly and enjoyable,” Dickey said. “Everyone that has seen
it has said it made them laugh out loud. The video truly exceeded our
wildest expectations.”
The students’ video will be unveiled at the Texas High School Shorts
competition. Cy-Fair FCU’s new VTV commercial is now live on its You-
