Polish Film institute Programmes
1. Film Production
2010 quota: 88 million Pln ( ~ 22 million eur)
This programme is aimed at supporting film production
at all stages of the process – from developing the screenplay
to the actual shooting and post-production. Support is given
to Polish films and international co-productions (including
those with a minority Polish partner), auteur films, directorial
debuts, films based on scripts awarded in competitions
of the Polish Film Institute, and films that were co-financed
by the Polish Film Institute at the development stage.
Funding through the Film Production Programme is
available to: producers of full-length films (feature,
documentary and animated; more than 70 minutes in length)
intended primarily for theatrical release; producers of midlength
documentaries (40-70 minutes) and animated films
(15-40 minutes); and producers of short documentaries
(under 40 minutes) and animated films (under 15 minutes).
As of November 23, 2009
An increase in funding is available to the producers of films
awarded at film festivals in Poland and abroad.
Funding for a co-production can be increased by up to
35%, as long as the total amount will comply with
the percentage limitations. The percentage limitations for
international co-productions are calculated based on the total
financial participation of the Polish partner, although
in the case of films with a special significance for Polish
culture or for promoting Poland, the General Director of the
Polish Film Institute can lower the percentage limit to cover
the whole budget. In the case of films with a Polish citizen as
director, screenwriter and lead actor, cinematographer or
production designer, the percentage limits are calculated
based on the whole budget. Funding awarded to a Polish
producer with minority shares in an international coproduction
cannot exceed 2 million PLN ( ~ 500,000 EUR) for
a European full-length feature film, and 1.5 million PLN
( ~ 375,000 EUR) for a non-European full-length feature film.
Among co-productions with Polish producers as minority
shareholders, priority is given to full-length projects. The Film
Production Programme has four objectives.
