4.16 Wildlife Control<br />

In addition to rodents, insects, and birds, other animals can become pests if left unmanaged.<br />

Critical Requirements<br />

4.16.1.1 Wildlife establishing habitat on the facility grounds or in the facility are removed in accordance with<br />

regulations and local ordinances. Wildlife can include dogs, cats, or other domestic animals.<br />

Minor Requirements<br />

4.16.2.1 Wildlife control measures are considered, where appropriate. Optional devices include:<br />

• Wire<br />

• Netting<br />

• Distracting devices<br />

• Repellents<br />

• Materials that prevent entry<br />

4.17 Pest Habitat<br />

Attractive habitat in or around a facility increases the chances of pest problems.<br />

Critical Requirements<br />

4.17.1.1 The facility addresses and eliminates any rodent burrows, rodent runs, and conditions that provide harborage<br />

or may attract rodents or other pests to the facility or outside grounds.<br />

4.17.1.2 Implementation of an effective pest management program is demonstrated through the lack of identifi ed<br />

pest activity. Specifi cally, pest activity whose identifi cation and control is managed as part of the IPM<br />

Program.<br />
