2. In April 2003, she suffered an accident on the sets of the film Khakee 

(2004) when a car driven by a stuntman got out of control, hit her, 

took her down a crevice, and slammed her into a cactus plant. She 

broke a bone in one foot and suffered severe cuts, and she was 

rushed to a hospital. The incident rekindled the discussion about 

poor safety standards on Bollywood film sets. 

3. The first Indian actress to be on the jury of the Cannes International

Dr Maimoona Mahomed studied Natural Medicine 

through a Canadian Institute of Natural Medicine. 

Her professor, whom she studied under, worked 

for the US government, as a medical scientist

I always had a passion to help people. I felt that 

was my purpose in life and this is how my calling to 

natural medicine began. 

16 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, 

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, multiple spine 

disorders including Spondylitis 

Scoliosis. Life seemed to come to an 

end for me because I was bed-ridden 

and summoned to a wheelchair. I 

was in constant agonising pain. My 

condition was worsening and it felt 

larger than life. Conventional medicine 

gave me no solution. At the time I was 27 years 

young with four beautiful children and a loving 

husband. I knew that I had to find a solution for my 

condition because I had alot left to achieve in life 

and besides my husband and kids needed me. My 

faith always reminded me that everything happens 

for a reason. Behind all adversity is a reward from 

Almighty. Almighty will never ever present a 

problem without a solution. 

I started searching for answers and through 

prayer and determination I was led to a 

Russian naturopath that had this amazing 

machine which he used as a diagnosis tool. 

This diagnosis tool assisted him in finding 

the root cause of my condition. He was able 

to inform me on my first visit about the viruses, 

bacteria, fungus and pathogens that had caused 

my problem. I was also told that my colon and liver 

was totally blocked with toxins and poisons. 

This was a miracle discovery for me from Almighty 

as for the first time I was told the root cause for my 

illness. These tests discovered 

that part of my diseases were 

passed down from ancestral 

generations, from my mother’s womb in the form of 

parasites which resulted in some of my complaints. 

I was than given my treatment protocol which 

entailed Quantam healing , change in lifestyle and 

most of all I was given Glyconutrients to support my 

immune system, support my cell function, repairing 

of my gut by way of detoxes and continuous liver 

detoxes. After six weeks into the treatment I did not 

require any morphine or any pain killers. 

Thus finding and alternative root was my only 

solution. Finding the cause and getting rid of the 

symptoms was and is the most rewarding portion of 

my career. I’m now cured for the past 16 years with 

renewed health. I always knew that all diseases 

started in the colon and cleansing your colon and 

all organs you can get rid of diseases for longer. 

This was a turning point in my life, and my getting 

totally healed inspired me in pursuing the natural 

medicine pathway for the past 12 years. 

My method of testing is accurate and my treatment 

protocols are specific to each individual and tested 

before administering, thus obtaining the best results 

for my patients. I have helped the most challenged 

patients from all over the world. I travel extensively 

to neighbouring countries as I have individuals 

that are critically ill without any solution. Recently 

I visited Malawi for a wedding reception and met 

with some of my patients that I have treated 8 and 

9 years ago with breast cancer, strokes, spinal 

problems, infertility, arthritis etc. 

To this day they are still well and have introduced 

many more patients because they believe in our 

treatment. All credit goes to Almighty creator who 

allows healing through my hands. 

My vision is to create confidence in my patients. 

To “believe” that by applying my treatments as a 

lifestyle they would be able to live a healthy and 

balanced life once again. 

I would love to live my purpose, by touching as 

many lives as I can by treating as many illnesses as 

possible and heal my patients fully to restore them 

back to health and wellness. 

I pray that the Almighty gives me the strength, 

health and keeps me empowered to open more

Court promotes their 

Voice in our Society 

South Africa produced 

one of the most evolved 

pieces of legislature protecting 

children when it ratified the 

Children’s Act 38 of 2005. This Act gave 

detailed effect to the best interests of 

the child principle found in the Constitution 

of South Africa and opened up a 

responsibility for the well-being of children 

from all spheres within the Republic. 

One such sphere is the court system 

and the right for children to have access 

to justice without fear of intimidation. 

We know that as adults the formal 

setting of a courtroom, with the presence 

of strangers and court officials, 

is a daunting atmosphere for us, how 

then are children meant to place their 

already fragile self’s (depending on 

the seriousness of the circumstances 

that place them there) and maintain 

their composure in a hearing relating 

to them? Fortunately the drafters of 

this Act created Chapter 4, which provides 

the provisions for the setup of 

Children’s Courts making children feel 

comfortable and safe during a judicial 

process. It states in section 42(8)(a) of 

the Act, that children’s court hearings 

must, “as far as is practicable, be held in 

a room which is furnished and designed 

in a manner aimed at putting children 

at ease”. 

Section 42 goes further to include the 

child’s active participation in these proceedings, 

ensuring that the child’s voice 

(being heard in their own words) is vital 

to the outcome of the hearing, while at 

the same time protecting the child from 

any undue influence (intimidation). 

All proceedings are conducted in a

closed court. This means that the child 

is not in the courtroom but in a separate 

room and video communication is 

used between the court and the child. 

A child has a right to a legal representative; 

if one is unaffordable then a legal 

aid lawyer will be appointed. A social 

worker will also assist the child in investigating 

his or her case or to be an 

intermediary where necessary. 

To make the Children’s Court easily 

accessible, the Act states that every 

Magistrate’s Court in South Africa is a 

Children’s Court, creating almost 737 

children’s courts in the country. To 

determine which court is the right one 

to go to, you can choose a court that is 

nearest to where the child, or his or her 

family lives. This court will hear matters 

relating to: 

• the protection and well-being of a child 

• the care of, or contact with a child (pre 

viously known as custody and access) 

•making a parenting agree

Where the court believes that a child 

will benefit from another forum other 

than a court proceeding, it will refer 

that matter to mediation before making 

a court order. Mediation further protects 

the child by taking into account 

the vulnerability of the child, their ability 

to participate, power relationships 

within the family and the nature of the 

allegations made. Mediation will also 

assist the family to attempt to reach 

settlement outside of the courtroom in 

a more cost and time effective way. 

It must be noted that the parent of a 

child need not necessarily be the person 

who brings a child-related matter 

to the children’s court. The Act allows 

for anyone acting in the interests of the 

child to approach the court. Further 

promoting that as a society we keep 

a vigilant eye on the well-being of our 

children and hold ourselves responsible 

to report any violations that do not 

serve the best interests of all our children.

make sure that the laws made for them 

give them a fair hearing.

Eight-year-old "Lion" actor Sunny Pawar, who created 

waves at the 89th Academy Awards ceremony in Los 

Angeles with his "The Lion King" act, returned home to 

a royal welcome as he stepped out of the Chhatrapati 

Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday morning. Accompanied 

by his father Dilip Pawar -- a former sweeper-turned-son's 

business manager -- Sunny sat on the trolley stacked 

high with his luggage and was wheeled out to a large number of people 

cheering and waving, as a media battalion braced for an encounter with 

the young celebrity. 

Though appearing a bit weary from a long-haul flight, Sunny was a bundle 

of energy, enthusiastically smiled and waved back at the people, as 

a couple of bouncers struggled to keep their valuable subject safe from 

the mobbing crowds. 

Some emotional elderly family members and relatives garlanded him 

as he stepped out of the airport, offered him sweets and blessed the 

actor, who attended the star-studded awards ceremony on February 26. 

"I am very happy and enjoyed attending the Oscars ceremony," Sunny, 

who featured in the Oscar nominated Hollywood film "Lion", said to a 

mediaperson. To another, he shot back: "I will continue to study and also 

pursue my acting career." 

The Class III student of Air Indian Model School, Kalina, was selected 

out of a nationwide talent-hunt around one and half years ago and finally 

cleared the auditions in Mumbai and Pune to land the plum role in Garth 

Davis's "Lion".

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has neither 

confirmed nor denied her presence as the 

leading lady in an upcoming spin-off of "Kabali" 

starring megastar Rajinikanth, asking people to 

wait a while. 

At the launch of the book "The Wrong Turn" by 

Sanjay Chopra and Namita Roy Ghos here, 

Vidya was asked about the buzz around the 

project. 

She told the media: "We will know in a while." 

According to media reports, the film is currently 

in its pre-production stage. 

Meanwhile, the actress is gearing up for the 

release of Srijit Mukherji's "Begum Jaan". Besides 

that, she is looking forward to starting the 

shoot for "Tumhari Sulu". "'Begum Jaan' is releasing 

on April 14. 

After that, I'll begin 'Tumhari Sulu'. So, the 

preparations are going on," Vidya said. 

Directed by Suresh Triveni, "Tumhari Sulu" 

is about a woman named Sulochana who is 

fondly known as Sulu. She lands herself an unexpected

Actress Shraddha Kapoor has praised 

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for being 

what she called an inspiring, artistic and a 

responsible person. Shraddha was asked

a question and answer session on Twitter 

recently. 

Shraddha replied: "One of the most inspiring, 

fearless, artistic, socially responsible 

person". The actress was also asked 

about megastar Amitabh Bachchan and 

superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She described 

them as "the definition of a superstar" and 

"the king" respectively. She said that she 

shares a "special bond" with actor Varun 

Dhawan, who is also her childhood friend. 

On the work front, Shraddha will next be

'SOTY'. I love the way she has grown up as an actor. 

I really respect her for that. It's beautiful to watch her 

on-screen," she said at the press conference of the 

film on Monday. 

"She is natural and acts with ease. Kudos for what

of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika. On being asked 

about any competition between them, she said, "We 

always face competition even when we are in high

Almond Kulfi 

Ice Cream 

Kulfi is an age-old Indian dessert filled with 

nuts, pistachios and/or cherries. 

You will need: 

2 cups of milk 

1-cup milk powder 

½ cup of evaporated low fat milk 

1 tblsp custard powder 

1/3-cup sugar 

1/3-cup almonds finely ground 

1 tsp vanilla essence 

Step 1 

Combine the milk, milk powder and custard 

powder and heat until the mixture thickens. 

Low heat is preferable 

Step 2 

Remove from the heat and Add in the 

sweetener, almonds and vanilla essence. 

Step 3 

Once this mixture has cooled place into an 

ice cream machine to form the ice cream 

and then place in the freezer. 

If you do not have an ice cream machine 

you may freeze the mixture overnight in an 

ice block tray.
