ANNIVERSARY OF
THE BATTLE OF
MOUQUET FARM
August/September 2016
marks the anniversary of the
Battle of Mouquet Farm, where
members of the 51st Battalion,
largely comprised of Western
Australians, saw the Battalion’s
first major battle where it suffered
casualties equivalent to a third of
its strength.
Soldiers William Cockman and
Richard Smales were from
Wanneroo and both lost their lives
on the same day during this battle
- 3 September 1916.
The Wanneroo Regional Museum

anniversary of Buckingham House
being open for school excursions with
a free event this school holidays.
Join us for an afternoon of hands-on
heritage activities such as damper
making and have a go at some old
fashioned games.
The adjacent Old Wanneroo School
house will also be open.
