ANNIVERSARY OF<br />

THE BATTLE OF<br />

MOUQUET FARM<br />

August/<strong>September</strong> <strong>2016</strong><br />

marks the anniversary of the<br />

Battle of Mouquet Farm, where<br />

members of the 51st Battalion,<br />

largely comprised of Western<br />

Australians, saw the Battalion’s<br />

first major battle where it suffered<br />

casualties equivalent to a third of<br />

its strength.<br />

Soldiers William Cockman and<br />

Richard Smales were from<br />

Wanneroo and both lost their lives<br />

on the same day during this battle<br />

- 3 <strong>September</strong> 1916.<br />

The Wanneroo Regional Museum<br />
