PROJECT UPDATES
Yanchep Surf Life
Saving Club
NORTH
COAST
Construction of the highly
anticipated new Yanchep
Surf Life Saving Club on
Brazier Road continues to
take shape.
The project, which includes
club rooms, new public
change rooms, toilet facilities,
meeting areas and a car park,
is budgeted at $6.8million and
is scheduled for completion in
December 2016.
Yanchep Surf Life Saving
Club President John
Heesters said the new
building will allow the club to
embrace the future.
“Working out of a run-down building
with little storage space and first aid
equipment limits our ability to provide
effective services,” John said.
“The new premises will allow us to
focus more on the service we provide
for the community rather than trying to
work fixing issues from the run down
building,” he said.
“It will attract people who want to do
good work at the beach and allow our
club to grow.”
Yanchep Active Open Space
The Yanchep Active Open Space
development includes two multi-use
ovals catering for AFL, Little Athletics,
rugby, soccer and cricket, as well as
hardcourts for basketball and netball.
Other facilities will include car park
and drop off facilities, pathways, park
furniture and passive recreation areas.
Construction well underway at the Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club site.
Completed works to date include the
removal of trees and levelling of the
ground to prepare for the playing fields
and finalisation of the construction
tender and contract.
Construction of the playing fields is
scheduled to begin this month while
construction of the building is expected
to commence in February 2017. This
project is budgeted at $7.4million and
the playing fields are scheduled for
completion in mid-2017.
Gumblossom Reserve
multi-purpose room extension
Construction of a new multi-purpose
room extension to the existing
changeroom building is progressing
well and scheduled for completion by
November 2016.
The project is budgeted at $300,000.
There will be a temporary partial
closure of existing facilities while
construction is underway.
Quinns Mindarie Surf Lifesaving Club.
Quinns / Mindarie
Community Centre
This project involves the construction
of a second storey extension to
the existing Quinns Mindarie Surf
Lifesaving Club and extension
adjacent to the building and is
budgeted at $3.1million.
Quinns Rocks Fishing Club President
Richard Lee said the move to a larger
community centre will provide new
opportunities to work with other groups.
“New premises will make for a more
welcoming place to attract more
members and take our club to new
strengths,” Richard said.
“Community facilities in Quinns Rocks
seem to be at capacity and in great
demand,” he said. “Extra space
with a different outlook will provide
opportunities for groups to expand
and having more vibrant, active
groups in the area will give locals the
chance to experience other activities.”
