GOLF TOURNAMENT
Swing from the Heart! 18th Annual Katy Christian Ministries Golf
Tournament to be held April 24th at Willow Fork Country Club,
21055 Westheimer Pkwy, Katy, TX 77450. Tournament Increases
Sustainability by Funding New KCM Resale Store & Relocation of KCM
Donation Center. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will help fund
the expansion/relocation of the KCM Donation Center and a second
Resale location, providing continued sustainability for the services
KCM provides to the community. The KCM Resale Store and Donation
center provides over 40% of the total funding for the services KCM
provides to the community.

13TH ANNUAL IMPACT A HERO 5K
An event that brings the community and combat
veterans and their families together. Registration is
now open for the 13th Annual Impact a Hero 5K, one
of Impact a Hero’s major fundraising events of the
year. This year, the race will be held May 20, 2017 at
the Constellation Field and will feature the traditional 5K Run/Walk/
Wheel and Kids 1K beginning at 7 AM.
The 5K registration is $25 for untimed and $35 for timed. The 5K
wheel is $25. The Kids 1K is $15. Prices increase on May 13th and
again on race day. Cash prizes will be awarded for the Men’s Open,
Men’s Master, Women’s Open and Women’s Master categories. Top
fundraisers will also be awarded prizes. Every registration will include
an Impact a Hero 5K shirt, free fundraising page and entry to
the post-race party. Online registration is available on their website:

WHY IS APRIL 18TH THE TAX DEADLINE?
Tax day falls on April 18, 2017. That’s the deadline for filing taxes on
income earned in 2016. Usually, April 15th is the day taxes are due. But
in 2017, that falls on a Saturday. On Monday, the District of Columbia
celebrates Emancipation Day. That affects taxes the same way federal
holidays do. Emancipation Day is normally April 16th, but that’s a Sunday.
Therefore, the tax deadline is pushed out to the following Tuesday,
April 18th. That gives taxpayers three extra days to file their returns.
