BOOK YOUR SUMMER PARTY NOW!! The City of Marinette pavilions are available for rental usage 7 days a week. They are open from May - September at City Park, Fred Carney Park, Red Arrow and Stephenson Island. Enclosed pavilion amenities include a large cooking range, refrigerator/freezer, a long buffet counter with outlets for serving, hot and cold running water and sink for cleanup. Inside seating capacity is 60 individuals and additional outdoor seating for more than 200 individuals is available. All locations have playground areas. Call the City Clerk’s office at 715.732.5140, to check pavilion availability and to make your summer party reservation today! Municipal Court – Pay Fines or Fees Online Marinette Municipal Court would like to remind the public that the “deposit” amount shown on all traffic and city ordinance citations are due on the court date. If payment cannot be made in full by the court date, defendants must appear on the court date (even if “Appearance Required” is marked “No”) to set up payment arrangements with the Municipal Judge. For your convenience, payments can be made after 4:00 PM and on weekends at the silver Drop Box located in the parking lot to the west of the Post Office (near outside drive-through mailboxes). Please include a copy of your citation with your check or money order in an envelope. DO NOT PUT CASH IN THE DROP BOX! Payments can also be made online with a credit card or debit card using Government Payment Service. There is an additional fee for this service and the company will send a check to the court so your payment will not be credited for 3- 5 working days after payment is made. Visit this website: www.GovPayNOW.com and use Pay Code 5001. Fire Department 2016 recreational fire permits expire March 31, 2017. Permits can be renewed at the Marinette Fire Department during normal business hours, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm for $10.00. ****These permits are required by Marinette Municipal Code. Please call 715-732-5178 if you have questions and remember to burn responsibly. Police Department A reminder to pet owners that per city ordinance 9.0311, they are responsible for cleaning up after their pets on any property – public or private. This refers to: streets; sidewalks; all city parks; and any privately owned lot or yard. Under city ordinance 9.0306(A)(2) any pet outside the owners vehicle or property must be secured on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length. ****Violations of any of these ordinances are subject to fines.**** Bicycle season is approaching. Vehicle operators should be aware of bicyclists operating on the roadways. Bicyclists are required to follow traffic laws and rules of the road.
Public Works Department SPRING CLEANING The Public Works Department would like to remind the residents of Marinette, how to properly dispose of spring cleanup yard and junk waste. Please follow the City Lines calendars on the back of the newsletter for the proper yard and junk week schedule. Please have yard waste or junk put out by 7:00 AM for pick up. Large items, junk, stumps, yard waste and garbage may be dropped off at the City Dump, 2411 Cleveland Avenue, Marinette. The NEW hours of operation are: Wednesdays, starting on April 19 th , 8:30AM – 4:30PM - AND - Saturdays, starting on April 15 th , 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. ******PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE CHANGE IN HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE CITY DUMP ****** Starting on Monday, April 17 th , a yard waste and brush drop off site will be available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Drop off will be located at the City of Marinette Garage, 2411 Cleveland Avenue. NO OTHER ITEMS WILL BE ALLOWED AT THIS DROP OFF SITE. CAMERAS WILL BE IN USE AT THE DROP OFF SITE AND VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED. The City and Waste Management will now be accepting #3-7 plastics, along with the current #1 and #2 plastics. Goodwill Industries of Marinette is currently accepting computers & electronics for FREE! TV’S ARE NOT ACCEPTED! Florescent light bulbs containing mercury are accepted at the Marinette Wastewater Utility, located at 1603 Ely Street, Monday –Friday, 7:30AM – 2:30PM. Fees vary. REMINDER: IT IS ILLEGAL TO DEPOSIT GRASS & LEAVES INTO CITY STREETS & STORM GUTTERS. This includes the blowing of grass or leaves with a lawnmower or leaf blower. City Ordnance 8>0112(a). Remove grass and other lawn trimmings that may have fallen into the storm gutter system. This debris plugs the city storm sewers, causing flooding issues during rain events. THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD POUR DOWN A STORM SEWER IS WATER. DUMP NO WASTE!!! With spring here, and summer right around the corner, please remember to use caution when applying any type of chemical to your lawn near the storm gutters. Marinette Welcome Center The Marinette Welcome Center will once again be sponsoring the “EASTER BASKET” Project for our community. Prefilled baskets will be donated to children’s of needy families identified through the local schools in our area, the local hospitals, churches, fire departments, police department, Human Services, Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul, the Rainbow House, NewCap and Abundant Life Mission and Shelter. If a business, organization, church group, scout troop, would like to contribute; all baskets should be brought to the Marinette Welcome Center, 1680 Bridge Street, Marinette, prior to April 12 to ensure distribution through non-profit agencies. This can be a fun and exciting completion between business departments, scout troops, etc. One basket from each person, place of business, agency, department, organization, etc. can help to make a difference. No child should be forgotten. Baskets should be identified as for a boy or girl, and approximate age, if possible. There are children in the 6-10 years old and PRE-TEENS, as well. If you wish to participate, but not assemble a basket, we have volunteers who will shop and put a basket together for you. The cost is $10, which covers the cost of the basket, the wrap, bow and contents. Donations can be sent or delivered to the Welcome Center.
