Next Steps and Considerations
The presentation of the final draft of the Urban Areas ZBL represents a significant
milestone in the Review process. Comments and input received on the first draft of the
Urban Areas ZBL (November 2016) has been considered in the preparation of the final
draft presented to Council at this statutory Public Meeting. The final draft has been
circulated to relevant agencies and departments and has been published on King's
website for public review and comment.
Planning staff acknowledges the comments received by the public on the final draft of
the Urban Areas ZBL to date. Planning staff, in cooperation with the Township's planning
consultants MMM Group, will consider all comments provided on the final draft and will
undertake any necessary revisions in preparation the final Urban Areas ZBL to be
brought forward for Council's consideration at a subsequent meeting in May 2017. It is
respectfully requested that comments on the final draft (dated March 2017) be provided
to the Township by April 13, 2017.
The primary focus of the King City and Schomberg phase of the ZBL Review has been
to implement the policies of the King City and Schomberg Community Plans. The
Township is in the process of an Official Plan Review. While the final draft of the Urban
Areas ZBL has taken into consideration the ongoing Official Plan Review to date, it is
anticipated that further refinements and/or amendments will be required upon the
approval of the new King Township Official Plan to implement new policy directions
through zoning. The Urban Areas Zoning By-law Review has provided the opportunity
implement existing direction from the King City and Schomberg, Community Plans, and
modernize the zoning with the goal of simplifying and streamlining a future zoning
conformity exercise.
