master’s degree students. Those recognized have maintained a minimum cumulative<br />

Philip A. Brooks Unsung Hero Award<br />

The Unsung Hero Award is presented to a student in good standing who exhibits<br />

commitment to Wentworth through consistent involvement within the campus<br />

community. Named in honor of Philip A. Brooks, whose dedication and<br />

commitment to Wentworth serves as an example of selfless contribution to the<br />

Institute, the recipient of this award, who may or may not hold a leadership position<br />

on campus, exceeds all expectations, consistently volunteers their time for<br />

Wentworth events and projects, and serves as a role model for all students.<br />

Community Scholarships are awarded each fall to junior and senior students who have<br />

made significant contributions to the Wentworth community through involvement in<br />

clubs, organizations, athletics, leadership positions, or service to the greater<br />

community while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0. A selection committee reviews<br />

application materials carefully and selects those students who have demonstrated the<br />

The Accelerate Wentworth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center was formed in<br />

May 2012 with the idea to bring innovation + entrepreneurship skills to our students.<br />

solved problems, networked intentionally, and built confidence in taking risks for<br />

consistently supported the development of a diverse and inclusive community at<br />

Wentworth. The student has been involved in diversity and multicultural<br />

programming and has been a strong advocate for underrepresented populations.<br />

This student has impacted diversity efforts on Wentworth’s campus, and will likely<br />

continue this role in any community in the future.<br />

Named in honor of Edward T. Kirkpatrick, former President of Wentworth Institute of<br />

integration of cooperative education to Wentworth’s curriculum, the Cooperative<br />

Education <strong>Awards</strong> are presented to senior co-op students who receive outstanding<br />

employer evaluations, show motivation and professionalism both in the job search<br />

Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Student Merit Award<br />

The IDSA conducts the Student Merit Award portfolio competition at each<br />

accredited design program. Seniors present their work to local industry professionals<br />

for evaluation. The design professionals choose a winner to represent the Wentworth<br />

Industrial <strong>Program</strong> at the annual Northeast Regional Conference. The Student Merit<br />

Award is a high honor for graduating seniors aspiring to enter the profession of<br />

industrial design with an edge on the competition.<br />

Each Outstanding Leadership Award is presented to a student who has shown<br />

leadership and dedication to their co-curricular involvement. The First Year<br />

Leadership Award is presented to a new student who has already shown significant<br />

contributions to their organization and will likely leave a lasting impression on<br />

Wentworth's community. The Sophomore Leadership award is presented to a<br />

student who serves as a strong role model for their classmates and displays potential<br />

for success in future leadership roles. The Junior Leadership Award recipient is a<br />

student who regularly demonstrates enthusiasm toward and passion for their role on<br />

campus and displays potential for success in future leadership roles.<br />

Eta Kappa Nu is the international honor society of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and<br />

Electronics Engineers). The society’s designated fields of interest include but are not<br />

limited to Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Eta<br />

the Division of Student Affairs three phase leadership program, the “Wentworth<br />

Leadership Institute”. These Wentworth Leadership Institute graduates have<br />

completed 8 weeks of fundamental leadership skills in the Phase of the institute, 4<br />

weeks of perspective challenging discussions in the Phase II seminar, and have<br />

successfully completed a year-long Phase III project showcased in the annual<br />

Wentworth Expo.<br />

The Paragon Award is presented to a graduating senior who has continually<br />

demonstrated a pattern of excellence within their organization or as a leader here on<br />

campus. The recipient is someone who may not necessarily hold an executive<br />

position, but who is considered by many to be a leader among leaders. They have<br />

consistently been a team player and continually rises to challenges. This student’s<br />

Founded in 1949, Sigma Lambda Chi is an international organization, consisting of 47<br />

chapters worldwide, dedicated to recognizing the outstanding academic<br />

achievement, co-curricular involvement, leadership qualities, and high ethical<br />

standards of students enrolled in construction curricula. Students are invited to join<br />

Sigma Lambda Chi by the current membership and are eligible after they have<br />
