Overwatch For Nintendo
Switch Sounds Unlikely, But Not
Ruled Out
Jeff Kaplan talks about why you shouldn't hold your breath for a Switch version.
Earlier this year, Overwatch game
director Jeff Kaplan talked about
the unlikely possibility of the hero
shooter coming to Nintendo
Switch. Now, Kaplan has said
Blizzard would need to "revisit
performance" to have Overwatch
run the way Blizzard would want
it to on Nintendo's hybrid console.
In addition to that, Kaplan said it's already no
small task to support Overwatch on three
platforms--PC, Xbox One, and PS4--so adding a
fourth isn't something Blizzard could necessarily
do right now.
The game director also talked about how he's
happy that his team has been able to patch
Overwatch on all systems at around the same
time. Bringing on a new platform in the Nintendo
Switch "would make that difficult," Express Online
reported.
Overall, however, Kaplan doubled down on his
earlier comment, saying Nintendo Switch remains
a possibility for Overwatch sometime down the
road.
"Just because we're not on a platform right now,
it doesn't mean we won't reconsider it in the
future, so we stay aware of all these things," he
explained.
You Can Play Pac-Man On
Google Maps Again
Here's another chance to play.
Reviving the gag it's offered before, Google has enabled the ability to
play Ms. Pac-Man using the streets in most areas on Google Maps. Provided
there are enough roads in the area you're looking at, you can play a working
version of the game, complete with ghosts, sound effects, and music.
On the web version, Ms. Pac-Man is turned on by clicking a button in the
bottom left; the arrow keys are then used to control your character. You can
also play in the mobile app--you won't miss the option to turn it on--by
swiping on the screen.
New GTA 5 Mod Brings The
Crysis Nanosuit Into The Game
Yet another excellent-looking Grand Theft
Auto V mod has come to light.
As highlighted in the video below from GTA X
Scripting (via Kotaku), a new script mod brings
the nanosuit from the Crysis series into the
The mod was created by JulioNIB. You can
find out more about this mod and how to
download it here at PC Gamer. As always,
always be careful when downloading things
from the internet.
open- world game. It changes things up
dramatically, as you canjump super high, push
cars around with your super strength, and run
extra fast. Not only that, but this mod changes
the UI pretty dramatically.
Counter-Strike Global Offensive
The gameplay in Global Offensive is
similar to that of previous games in the
Counter-Strike series in the sense that it is
an objective-based multiplayer firstperson
shooter. Players play as one of
two teams; the Terrorists or the Counter
Terrorists, with both teams having
different objectives: the Terrorists' being
to plant the bomb and have it explode or
to protect the hostages, and the Counter-
Terrorists' being to prevent the bomb
from being planted and exploding, or to
rescue the aforementioned hostages,
depending on the map. At the start of
every round players get the opportunity
to purchase weapons and equipment
with their money that is awarded based
on their performance in the previous
round. Winning rounds results in more
money than losing, and completing
objectives such as killing enemy players
results in more money. Negative actions,
such as killing teammates, will result in a
penalty.
There are six different game
modes in CS:GO. These consist of
Competitive, Casual, Arms Race,
Demolition, Deathmatch, and
Weapons Course. All of these
options have both online or offline
options except the Weapons
Course, which is offline only.
Competitive mode is the most
serious, with players being put
into a 5v5 match that takes around
45 minutes to complete. Arms Race
mode is similar to the "Gun Game"
mod for other games in the series.
It consists of players racing to
upgrade their guns via killing
enemies. Demolition mode is again
like the "Gun Game" mod, but in
Demolition the players are able to
plant and defuse the bomb too,
and only receive a gun upgrade at
the end of the round if they killed
an enemy. Casual mode is a toneddown
version of the Competitive
mode as it has both team damage
and collision disabled. In
Deathmatch mode, there is no real
objective except to kill the enemy
players. Players instaspawn after
death, meaning the action is
almost continuous. It is most
popularly used to practice and
learn how all of the guns function.
The Weapons Course is an offline
practice mode designed to help
new players learn how to use the
basic items, such as grenades and
guns.
Demolition mode is again like the
"Gun Game" mod, but in
Demolition the players are able to
plant and defuse the bomb too,
and only receive a gun upgrade at
the end of the round if they killed
an enemy. Casual mode is a toneddown
version of the Competitive
mode as it has both team damage
and collision disabled. In
Deathmatch mode, there is no real
objective except to kill the enemy
players. Players instaspawn after
death, meaning the action is
almost continuous. It is most
popularly used to practice and
learn how all of the guns function.
The Weapons Course is an offline
practice mode designed to help
new players learn how to use the
basic items, such as grenades and
guns.
Take a trip to the Canals
Canals is a brand new map
for CS:GO, set in a historic
Italian city. Two important
tourist attractions are under
threat by an international
group of terrorists known as
the Phoenix, and SEAL Team
6 has been deployed to stop
them.
The map is based on realworld
environments that
give each area its own
architectural style as well as
gameplay, and produce an
unconventional layout. The
CT side is composed of a
large, wide open area while
the T-controlled territory
forms a crescent of smaller
spaces around it and
provides multiple
approaches to each bomb
site.
The bombsites require
different tactics and weapon
choices for each team. Site A
is set in the open CT territory
and rewards the use of
smoke grenades as well as
rifle skills, while site B is
located in the interior where
submachine guns and
shotguns will prove most
useful.
The canal that runs
below site B also allows
a stealthy approach
deep into the CTcontrolled
area and the
A site. This area has a lot
of cover that makes it
difficult and hazardous
for CTs to hold.
While the map is based
on a real-world location,
the aesthetics are
intentionally clean and
uncluttered for good
player visibility. In
addition, many of the
environmental models
are built in a modular
fashion so they can be
easily re-used by
community map makers.
We look forward to
seeing how the map is
received by the players.
As with our previous
map releases, listening to
feedback from the
community will help us
make improvements in
the future.
Ashes to Ashes, Dust to
Dust
In the wake of the ELEAGUE
Major (congratulations
Astralis!), we’re making a
change to the map pool:
Inferno has returned to
Active Duty, replacing Dust II,
and will be featured at the
next CS:GO Major. As in the
past, the updated Active
Duty pool is automatically
selected when you enter
Matchmaking.
And in Casual and
Deathmatch game modes,
it’s now a bit easier to play
your favorite maps. Map
groups have been separated
into additional categories:
Active Duty, Hostage,
Reserves, and Dust II.
*(don’t worry, it’s just as
easy as ever to play Dust II.
It’s now front and center on
the Competitive
Matchmaking map selection
screen)
