CLASSIC TIMES
From the Director: Lynda Christison
Only in the South can one experience winter, spring, and
summer all in one week! How many of you still have
clothes for all three seasons prominently hung in your
closet? Regardless of what the appropriate attire is; every
day is one where we are so grateful for all the wonderful
volunteers who generously give their time to deliver
meals, work at senior centers, at our Aging Admin office,
or help with special projects and events. April is National
Volunteer Month and we truly could not provide all the
programs and services without you!! From the bottom of
our hearts, thank you all!
Both our volunteers and those participating in our programs
are wonderful examples of the Administration for
Community Living’s May 2017 theme for Older Americans
Month, “Age Out Loud.” This theme was selected to highlight
how aging is changing, to amplify the voices of older
Americans, and to raise awareness about vital aging issues.
So let’s talk about aging and aging issues. What is
important to you? How are you being involved in the
community, in learning new things, caring for people you
love? Check out opportunities at our Centers, try a new
class,and/or make a new friend.
On behalf of Lt. Governor Bryant and the Lt. Governor’s
Office on Aging Director, Darryl Broome, we would like to
invite everyone to celebrate and “Age Out Loud” at Senior
Citizen Day at the SC State House on Thursday, May 4 th
from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy exhibitors, speakers,
health screenings, music, games and entertainment. The
event is free. Lunch is available if you RSVP ahead of time
by calling 803-737-9880. Visit www.aging.sc.gov/
seniorday for more information.
A very special thank you to everyone who supported our
2017 March for Meals campaign! The Town of Lexington
for event venues; Fatz Restaurant for hosting the Flapjack
Fundraiser; the amazing Zumba instructors for leading the
Rockn’Shamrock Zumbathon, Champions Week participants
Mayors Michael Bishop, David Busby, Steve Mac-
Dougall, Elise Partin, Rosalyn Reeder, Randy Clamp;
Represetative Micah Caske; Councilpersons Debbie Summer,
Brian Jackson, Ned Tolar (and his lovely wife); Lt.
Governor Kevin Bryant; LGOA Director Darryl Broome; and
Blowie the Blowfish. Thank you to Senator Katrina Shealy
for introducing the SC Senate’s Resoltion S525 honoring
LCRAC’s Meals on Wheels program and the volunteers
who serve the program’s seniors.
Have a wonderful spring
and let’s all
Age Out Loud!!
A Sincere Thank You to Lt. Governor Bryant and LGOA Director,
Darryl Broom for delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting with Tri-City
Seniors during Community Champions week in March!

Christmas In Lexington County
The 22 nd annual Christmas in Lexington County project will be held on
Saturday, April 29, 2017. Please mark your calendar as we look ahead for
another successful one day blitz to fix up, paint and repair homes of the
homebound elderly.
One of main goals driving this annual project is to help seniors in need
remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible. If your business, church,
or civic group is interested in getting involved in this annual event in any capacity or if
you would like some information on the event, please contact us at 803-356-5111.
Thank You to ...
