ELECTRiCaL & MECHaNiCaL DiviSiON OCL offers extensive experience in the managing and delivery and commissioning of multi discipline projects and the M&E section fits in well with the construction services team. These services are delivered for our domestic, commercial building and rail and underground clients. With a wealth of experience our electrical and mechanical teams provide our clients with a quality service with a key leaning towards modern technology. We have supplied over many years hundreds of test and commissioners, JIB qualified electricians and installers that have helped deliver some of the largest infrastructure projects to date. KEY SERVICES: • Testing and inspection • Domestic residences (New build and renovation) • Temporary site supplies (Track and site supplies) • Rail and Underground passenger areas and back of house electrical and mechanical installs and commissioning • Tunnel lighting enhancement • New supplies to London Underground kiosks • CRMS routes • Electrical and mechanical maintenance of existing systems EXaMPLE ELECTRiCaL CaSE STUDiES PROJECT Warren Street Sub Mains CLIENT LU - Vinci - Giffen OCL were the chosen suppler to provide between 50 – 60 qualified electricians and mates to assist the principal contractor on this project including regular full weekend station closure’s incorporated. This formed part of the ongoing investment by London Underground in upgrading the Tube Network including a complete enhanced refurbishment of Warren Street Station. Upon completion of all the required cable containment route, associated core holes and Civils work, OCL were contracted as the specialist cable installation contractor to install all electrical sub-mains cables within the contract time scales, whilst ensuring the minimum amount of disruption to the general public who use the station. The majority of this work was carried out during engineering hours and a number of planned weekend station closures. However, careful planning was required to maximise the working hours available with the length and size of the cables being installed taken into account. Due to the many different areas of the station to be accessed by the install team, many of these works incorporated bespoke high level cantilever access towers being used on the stations staircases and elevators along with carrying out all required confined space works. All installs undertook vigorous NOWRI inspections and the works carried out by OCL were successfully completed on time and to budget. BREAKDOWN OF WORKS CARRIED OUT BY OCL: • Plan, design, and produce drawings of cable routes and intersections eliminating any crossovers or radius non-conformities • Plan and schedule call offs for cable installs around station closures and working hours • Complete Installation of uninterruptible power supply cables • Installation of approx. 3000m of all sub-main cables ranging from 10mm 3-core to large 300mm 4-core SWA • Lighting cables in public and client areas • Small power installations • Installation of all cable labelling and tie wrapping • Installation of all cable cleats and all associated fixings • Incorporate bespoke working conditions ELECTRiCaL & MECHaNiCaL DiviSiON PROJECT Harrow on the Hill ATC CRMS Project & SSL Immunisation Project - LVAC Phase 1A INSTALLATION TEAM: • Site Managers x 1 • SPCs x 10 • Cable Route Installers x 40 (including pull test training and PASMA trained staff) • Electricians and Electrical Mates. x 10 • Test and Commissioning Engineer x 1 • Compliance Manager- HSE Auditor x 1 PROJECT CLIENT Upminster Depot DC Upgrade LU/Giffen OCL were tasked to install the new post, concrete troughing and under track duct routes within the depot and then install new sub station feeds to reinforce the DC track feeder cables. This formed part of the 4LM project (then SUP) DC upgrade work. This was carried out during various depot possessions including traffic hours and weekend working shifts. The CRMS routes ran from the sub station to all ends of the depot and the 935mm DC cables were installed in up to 200m lengths to minimise the requirement for any cable joints. These cables were delivered on cable trailers and then pulled out across the depot in loops and dressed onto the new CRMS. The MAID documentation was provided and NOWRIs completed prior to commissioning of the cables. OCL also assisted in the commissioning of the cables and the decommissioning and removal of the old cabling. The changeovers were carried out with teams terminating cables in the sub station and at the same time terminating the cables onto the track. BREAKDOWN OF WORKS CARRIED OUT BY OCL: • Arrange possession shifts and attend possession meetings • Installation of under track duct crossings (UTX) • Installation of post and hanger routes and concrete trough routes • Delivery, installation and dressing of the new 935mm track feeder cables into the new CRMS • Producing the project deliverables for the MAID files • Terminating the cables on the tracks, in DC TIS switches and in the sub station • Earthing and bonding of CRMS CLIENT LU - Giffen In support of the SSL Upgrade Capability Enhancement Programme (CEP) re-signalling Phase 1A works, the LVAC Power Upgrade Project was required to provide diverse power supplies to facilitate the new signalling kiosks being installed to feed the replacement track circuits. This involved installing Delivery and installation of new Feeder Pillars and delivery and installation of UPS systems. Delivery of some units required the use of hi-ab lorries and Road Rail Vehicles (RRV’s). Installation of power cable supplies, one supply cable fed from the nearest sub-station with the other supply fed from the adjoining station switch-room. Testing & commissioning of system in liaison with the client and the signalling contractor to provide confirmation that the system would operate as required. OCL were tasked to provide supervision plus up to 10 CRMS installation teams to drive the installation on this project. This formed part of the original CRMS route install programmes carried out by the 4LM project (then SUP). The design at the time was incomplete and OCL assisted in identifying and proposing buildable solutions for the cable transitions keeping the bending radius of the cable in mind at all times. This was carried out while maintaining the post and hanger route meterage on a nightly basis in a location with a very limited engineering shift length. To assist with this short night shift OCL identified and carried out as much of the work as possible during traffic hours. Surveying and identifying access points to the railway and bulk delivering and loading out materials wherever possible. All installs undertook vigorous NOWRI inspections and the works carried out by OCL were successfully completed on time and to budget. EXaMPLE CiviL CaSE STUDiES OCL were contracted to provide and manage a skilled shaft team at Manningtree rail station. The works are part of the aGa step free station modifications. 2 new lift shafts and passageways will be installed. Due to the complex nature of the works, a design was created to install and pre cast the permanent shaft sections, these are then hydraulically driven into position. all works are carried out during the day due to the system and methods developed. These sites included a complex mass concrete underpin sub base at Edgware Road. This was to ensure stability of the existing LU retaining wall at Edgware Road. On completion of the permanent “underpin”, OCL cast a new RC base slab for the SER superstructure. Brick and block walls were erected both internal and external. New suspended Comflor installation and penetrations through the Mezzanine and Roof RC slabs. New sub surface drainage diversion inclusive of Manhole chambers and 6m deep soakaway units.
