designers at Rolls-Royce
Motor Cars and Rolls-Royce
Motor Cars Rancho Mirage to
create a one-of-a-kind work
of art with the ‘Rolls-Royce
Dawn Palm Springs Collection.’
This one-of-one collection car is the child of creative collaboration
among the team in Rancho Mirage and exquisite execution by
the company’s Bespoke Design Studio in Goodwood, England.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas recorded a third consecutive year of
record sales in 2016. Sales soared 12% for the year, propelled by the
new Rolls-Royce Dawn. The Americas remain the largest region for the
world’s leading luxury house, and represents more than one-third of the
iconic brand’s sales. Rolls-Royce continued to dominate the North American
super-luxury arena (motor cars topping $250,000). The success is
a direct result of the company’s leadership in offering a steady stream of
exciting new luxury products and exclusive Bespoke features for the most
discerning clients in the world, Rolls-Royce motor car owners.
The initial idea of the Palm Springs Collection came as the team from
Rancho Mirage met with local architectural and interior designers. Palm
Springs has always been a winter haven and year-round home to a cadre
of A-list celebrities and titans of industry with discerning taste for design
and quality. They are a group that knows what they like. To celebrate this
heritage, together they conceived this unique ‘one-of-one’ collection car.
Working for the past year with the color, finish and material designers in
the Bespoke Design Studios at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood,
they created ‘Dawn Palm Springs Collection.’
‘Dawn – Palm Springs Collection’
The inspiration for the Artic White exterior finish is the vastness of the
desert. The sleek monochrome exterior evokes the image of a blank canvass,
setting the stage for the tasteful highlight of color within. The interior
Bespoke coloring includes Artic White with splashes of Turchese, Mandarin
giving the sense of blossoming wildflowers set against the sands of
the desert. The Dawn includes classic Bespoke features that Rolls-Royce
is world renowned. Such as the a two-tone hand-sewn steering wheel in
Artic White and Turchese and interior hand stitching and piping highlights
in Mandarin.
The homes of Palm Springs have long featured cutting-edge design and
furniture. From the art deco designs to neo-modern, the use of wood has
been a visual treat for the Palm Springs community. ‘The Dawn Palm
Springs Collection’ features full Canadel Panelling of an open pore Santos
Palisander veneer, similar to what one would see on the finest designer
interior furnishings and décor finishes. Set against the Artic White
and Bespoke Color, the design is a true reflection of the Palm Springs
lifestyle. “Our clients view their Rolls-Royce as an extension of their style
and their home, and they want that same feeling of cool, modern comfort
when they commission a Bespoke motor car, “said Kelly Wolf, General
Manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Rancho Mirage part of the Indigo
Auto Group. He added, “the sophisticated use of Bespoke color has risen
dramatically as we have seen new clients with Dawn. We hope this creation
can spark even more creative Bespoke commissions from our Palm
Springs clientele.”
Rolls-Royce Dawn was introduced to luxury lovers worldwide in 2016
and has quickly earned the reputation for being the “sexiest” vehicle ever
created by the designers in the Rolls-Royce atelier. It has also delivered
to its owners the most social drophead ever offered by Rolls-Royce Motor

through the Bespoke options offered to clients. Traditional hand-crafted
wood and leather combined with the latest in modern materials topped

was an amazing and fun event with comedy,
fashion, games, fine cuisine and plenty to
drink and eat all in one amazingly beautiful
location, and best of all benefiting a important
cause.
There was a live and silent auction and coctails by Crater Lake Vodka.
Music Icon DJ Shasta kept the crowd moving. The fashion show was incredible.
Fashions were by Grayse on El Paseo. And the amazing food,
as always, by Lulu and Beyond Balisage. There was even an arcade by
Gameroom Gallery. Super fun entertainment by the cool comedians
Sean Kanan and Jackie Flynne. The energy on the grounds was vibrating
and we all enjoyed the evening.

PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM IN CONJUNCTION WITH
LOS ANGELES MODERN AUCTIONS RAISES MORE
THAN $500,000 AT P.S. AN ART AUCTION BENEFIT
Palm Springs Art Museum raised more than a half million dollars at its
P.S. An Art Auction benefit.
Held in partnership with Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA), P.S. An
Art Auction is a fundraiser that presents art works that are representative
of the Museum’s collecting strengths in the areas of architecture, design,
contemporary art, photography and video, and western art. Well-known
artists, galleries, museum patrons, and collectors donated works that will
help to provide vital support for the Museum’s exhibitions, educational,
and public programs.
“The partnership with LAMA offered a unique opportunity for the museum
to build on the past success of the Contemporary Arts Council’s auction,
and present artworks to collectors around the globe,” said The JoAnn
McGrath Executive Director Elizabeth Armstrong. “LAMA presented 86
lots of art on behalf of the museum and realized over half a million dollars
to support the Museum.”
The live Modern Art & Design auction was recently held at the LAMA
headquarters in Van Nuys. The top lot was Jean Paul Riopelle’s Kenavo,
which tripled its estimate bringing in a $170,000 hammer price. LAMA
waived the standard Buyer’s Premium in this section to help achieve the
highest price in support of Palm Springs Art Museum.
“We were thrilled to use LAMA’s conduit into the international market
place for Modern and Contemporary art on behalf of Palm Springs Art
Museum,” said Peter Loughrey, Director of LAMA. “While charity auctions
are not new, what was novel here was LAMA’s ability to outsource the
museum’s organization as well as the cost structure so that the institution
could maximize the revenue from this event. The end result proved that
the efficiency of a commercial auction house combined with generous
donors of PSAM created synergy to maximize revenue for the benefit the
museum.”

Taking time for family:
Life can be sooooo busy...it certainly is for us, but taking time to reconnect
and unplug is vital to maintain a fluid and productive life. Bunny
Jo, Fynnton and I jetted off to Cabo to the Sandos Finisterra Resort. As
always, I was a bit trepidatious about leaving the work world behind and
truly being able to unplug with my family. How did I move through this
negative and self doubting moment? I had a lot of vodka. Lol Seriously,
it is always hard for me to unplug, but I talked to myself and remembered
that every initiative good or bad is a step by step process. Taking lots of
little moments of positivity and enjoying how that feels equals to larger
and more fulfilling moments. It is the slight edge principle...and it works.
Pretty soon I all but forgot I was supposed to be worried about not doing
what i normally do each day, as I am both a creature of habit and a worka-holic!
Bottom line, we had an amazing time with each other and we
designed it to be that way from the moment we booked the trip!

The energy was electric AND hilarious at the Ball Goes PRO fundraising
Gala at the Heckman Estate on Clancy Lane in Rancho Mirage! The
benefit raised funds for Parkinson's Resource Organization and welcomed
new Director, Dan Ball to the organization. Jo Rosen, the organization’s
founder, has worked tirelessly for 27 years to be a beacon of
light and hope to tens of thousands of people affected by Parkinson's all
over the world. The guests were entertained by comedy and games and
scrumptious food by Lulu in an atmosphere of love and light.

AAP-FOOD SAMARITANS ANNOUNCES 2017
‘EVENING UNDER THE STARS’ HONOREES
Contributions of Community Heroes to be Recognized at 24th Annual Gala
Food Samaritans (AAP) announced that several community
leaders will be honored at the 24th annual Evening
Under the Stars gala on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 6 p.m.
at the O’Donnell Golf Club in Palm Springs. The 2017
honorees include: Dr. Timothy Jochen and Lee Erwin
(Jeannette Rockefeller Humanitarian Award), Gregg
Selleck (Gloria Greene Inspiration Award), Laurie Weitz
(Herb Lazenby Community Service Award) and Bob Pollock
(posthumously) (Joanna Jakway Community Hero
Award). The Corporate Angel Award will be given this
year to Eisenhower Medical Center. For more about this

“AAP – Food Samaritans could not fulfill our mission
without the dedication and support of the incredible
people and organizations that support us,” said Mark
Anton, CEO/Executive Director of AAP – Food Samaritans.
“Without their caring and inspirational guidance,

those low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS and

Evening Under the Stars gala festivities will begin with
a ‘quintessentially Palm Springs’ sunset cocktail hour
on the grounds of the O’Donnell Golf Club against a
backdrop of the majestic San Jacinto Mountains, widely
regarded as one of the most festive cocktail receptions
of the season. A short awards program will recognize the
inspirational honorees, followed by a delicious dinner,
and a performance by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas.
After their show, dancing will continue with DJ Jerry Bonham
on the main stage followed by an amazing fireworks
display. Tickets for the benefit, priced at $395 and $500
per person, are available for purchase and individual VIP

Palm Springs, April 20, 2017: The Palm Springs Regional Association of
REALTORS® held their Annual Spring Fling Auction on Wednesday April
12, 2016 at the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs.
This perennial event led by the Special Events committee is the start of
the fundraising year for the local Association. Auction items ranged from
gift baskets to Gloria Ferrer Sparkling Wines to Islands of Adventure and
Universal Orlando tickets donated by REALTORS®, Affiliate members and
local businesses. In the span of an hour, a total of $6,264.00 was raised.
The Spring Fling Auction will be followed by the Food Drive July 1st
through July 26th and the Harvest Auction on Wednesday, November
22nd. Net proceeds from the Auctions will be donated to local charities
Sanctuary Palm Springs, the Boys and Girls Club Valley Wide and Desert
Escrow Association Scholarship Fund. This year’s Food Drive beneficiary
is The Community Food Bank @ The Center in Palm Springs.
When asked his thoughts on the event, PSRAR 2017 President Lucio
Bernal responded, “Our members recognize part of home ownership
involves community, and that is why we came out in full force to support
the Annual Spring Fling Auction and had a fun time contributing to our
charities thru giving back to our community.”

Purchasing a home is one of the largest
financial decisions a person can make in
their lifetime. With so much on the line, it is
no surprise that this process can often seem
daunting and stressful to a potential homebuyer.
However, RPM Mortgage and its
Regional Manager Michael Sousa, are here
to put homebuyers’ nerves at ease.
Local Coachella Valley resident Michael Sousa started his career in the
mortgage industry as a loan processor in 2004. Throughout the years, Michael
has worked his way through all aspects of the loan process including
underwriting, funding and drawing final loan documents for signings.
In his experience, he was able to learn the ins and outs of the lending
process and enrich his home financing knowledge. Noticing his determination
and wide understanding of the industry, Michael was approached
by his manager about becoming a loan originator. Now, Michael is a Regional
Manager at RPM Mortgage, where he not only originates, but also
oversees other Loan Advisors to help them grow.
RPM Mortgage is a private mortgage lender dedicated to providing clients

We sat down with Michael to learn more about his experience, the RPM
Mortgage team and how they serve the Coachella Valley.
Who is Mr. Michael Sousa, the man?
I am a native California baby boomer. My parents are Portuguese immigrants,
who literally came over on a boat to establish roots in this country,
while still remaining true to themselves and our heritage. It’s this hard
work and determination that shaped my values and who I am today.

What brought you to Palm Springs?
I am one of those 11 year snowbirds from San Francisco, who fell in love
with the area and decided I had to call it home slightly over two years
ago. There is just something about the community and sunsets that are
simply majestic. Life here in the desert is about living a life of quality filled
with lifelong friends and business relationships. I couldn’t possibly ever
return to San Francisco after calling Palm Springs home.
What do you enjoy most about living in Palm Springs?
You never know who you’re going to meet in the desert. Your old and
new friends magically appear from all over California to join you. You may
even run into Kevin Costner and his family during lunch… Yes, that happened!
He has a great looking family.
When you aren’t serving your clients, how do you like to spend your time?
In my downtime you can usually find me cruising the Boulevard in my
1964 Continental convertible, or showing it in local car shows. I am very
proud to own this piece of history, and the many trophies and accolades
it has received. Named “Mrs. Kennedy,” the convertible proudly displays
a Kennedy/Johnson bumper sticker. I feel it’s someone’s job to preserve
history otherwise people forget. The car is always a crowd pleaser and
sparks an array of conversations from both the young and old.
The mortgage industry can be pretty stressful. How do you maintain
a healthy work/life balance?
I believe you have to be just as dedicated to yourself as you are to your
clients. Personally, I am very fitness-oriented. You can usually find me at
World Gym every morning at 5:30 am. Not only does this pump me up for
the day, but it lets me relieve stress and refocus for the new day.
Why do you consider yourself a mortgage expert?
I have worked with all types of clients, all with varying real estate and
mortgage environments. I have helped buyers and sellers in both prospering
and crashing markets over the entire state of California. I have
seen a vast range of lending scenarios, from lease land, multi-unit properties
to vacation and primary homes. Each of these clients required
unique lending options and nothing beats experience from your mortgage
professional to help get a transaction closed smoothly.
What advice do you have for someone who is considering entering
the mortgage industry?
Mortgages can be very demanding of your time. Someone thinking about
getting into this industry should understand that it doesn’t magically
disappear at 5 pm and reappear at 8 am. It’s a full-time commitment to

servicing the client and assuring their transaction will close. It’s my job as
a lender to play quarterback until our client has the keys to their home in
their hands, and make sure I have the right players backing me up.

As local residents ourselves, we understand the current market in our
communities we serve, and have relationships with local realtors to find
the perfect fit for any purchase. Our variety of products range from various
cash out options, reduced seasoning for previous short sales/foreclosures,
low credit score requirements and interest only options. We have
so many options for clients to choose from to help find the right match for
each individual.
What would you recommend for a client looking to refinance or gain
access to their home equity?
If a client is looking to access some of their home equity for a home improvement
or perhaps pay for their child’s college tuition, a cash out refinance
may be a good option. We also have a fixed-rate second mortgage
program which is similar to a home equity line or HELOC, but with a fixed
payment over the loan term, which means their payment won’t adjust.
Plus the best part is the client doesn’t have to adjust their payment or
refinance their first mortgage.
How does RPM pride itself as being a local lender in Palm Springs?
We have strong ties to our communities in the valley. Our fellow residents

You were working during the big crash of 2008… What was your biggest
takeaway from that time period?

dexterity, and in general they tend to eat more sweets more often, and not brush
as often.
There is also another component that needs to be explained here. In the mouth
there are several types of bacteria. Some are responsible for gum disease and
some are responsible for decay. Some people may have the best hygiene
and still have gum disease and some who have the worst hygiene may not
suffer from gum disease at all. This is because they do not have the bacteria
responsible for gum disease. Same thing for decay. Some people will be more
susceptible to decay then others even if they eat just a little sugar and have
decent dental hygiene. That is because they have that kind of bacteria in their
mouth in a higher rate then another person. But that is not a reasonable excuse.
More brushing and plaque control with a topical fluoride application daily,
preferably with a special personal tray made at the dental office will help.
Very rarely a person will suffer from gum disease and a high rate of decay. It is
generally one or the other. If someone has a high rate of decay, in general they will
not suffer from gum disease like bone loss, periodontal pockets and tooth mobility.
It is a proven fact though, that the better the dental hygiene you have and the
better your diet is in terms of limiting sugar intake, the healthier your gums and
teeth will be.
So, it is not true that decay affect only kids. As long as you have one tooth in
your mouth you are subject to get decay if you leave dental plaque on it and eat
sugar!--
Do you think that dental cavities are problems only for
children?
The best way to prevent that is to have good dental hygiene at home and
brushing after any sugar intake, and to visit your dentist 2 to 3 times a year.

It is a general belief that cavities are for kids only. But in fact,
cavities affect all ages!
The reason why cavities are more prevalent in children is
mainly the fact that they tend to eat more sugar and have
poor hygiene habits. However, when looking at the cause of
decay, which is basically plaque with the presence of sugar,
it is easy to understand that cavities can happen at any age
even if your mouth is full of crowns.
Of course there are some people who have teeth that are
softer then others and are easier to decay but that affects
only 1% of the population. Basically any diet rich in sugar
will increase your chance of decay. Soft drinks, candies and
anything sweet will have a potency to create decay in the
presence of dental plaque. Of course in order to create
decay there has to be the bacteria that will transfer the sugar
into acid to decalcify the tooth. It is called dental plaque and
it forms very quick after eating. The better hygiene a person
has, the less they will have decay. It takes both sugar and
plaque to decay a tooth. The more you brush and floss, the
more plaque removed and the less risk of decay.
Additionally, elderly patients also tend to have more decay.

Audiences flocked to theaters from coast to coast to be the first to
see Guy Ritchie’s “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”
Moviegoers around the U.S. were given “King for a Day” status last evening
at 200 sold-out AMC Theatres—50 more than the original 150 participating,
due to overwhelming demand—for a free advance screening
of Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “King Arthur:
Legend of the Sword.” An estimated 30,000 lucky attendees were not
only treated to the fantasy action adventure more than two weeks before
its theatrical release, but also received a limited edition, movie-themed
hat and a special poster created by Shepard Fairey’s Studio Number One
team.

Time, is a musical déjà vu celebrating the scintillating 70’s in New York City –
the heyday of Studio 54. The journey she takes puts a personal spin on the

unanimous raves from New York theatre critics, won a Mac Award Nomination
for Best Female Singer and the Bistro Award for Outstanding Major
Engagement. She also received a nomination for an Ovation Award for
Best Featured Actress (MACK AND MABEL) by the Los Angeles Theatre
Alliance League. She made her Opera debut in 1996, guest starring in
the San Francisco Opera’s production of DIE FLEDERMAUS.
Donna has also performed extensively on the concert stage and with
symphony orchestras. She has appeared as guest star in numerous television

by Richard Jay-Alexander. Two seasons ago she opened the Adelaide
Cabaret Festival and completed her first tour of Australia performing
MY MUSICAL COMEDY LIFE, also directed by Mr. Alexander. Donna’s
memoir, TIME STEPS – My Musical Comedy Life, was published by Simon
and Schuster. Donna was featured in the documentary film, EVERY

TY HERNDON
Contemporary country music heartthrob Ty Herndon returns to
the stage at MA4 for an evening of acoustic delight. Ty Herndon is
a master of the ties that bind. The Grammy-nominated and Dove
award-winning recording artist has the ability to connect with an
audience far beyond his onstage performance. “If I haven’t lived it,
I haven’t sung it” as Herndon says. He has a passion and commitment
to his music that continues to play out in his lyrics.
Raised in Butler, Alabama, Herndon has been a professional entertainer
since his teenage years. At age 17, he performed at OPRYLAND USA as
a cast member of “Today’s Country Roads.” He went on to be a finalist in
the first season of the now iconic television series, “Star Search” and was
a winner in the male-vocalist category. This accolade led to appearances
on numerous television shows and commercials.
As a live performer, he gained popularity while playing honky-tonks in
Texas, and in 1993 he was named Texas Entertainer of the Year. That
honor led to interest from Music Row and a record deal with Epic Records.
Herndon made his chart debut in 1995 with “What Mattered Most,”
which became his first No. 1 song and garnered a Song of the Year award
(Music Row Magazine). It was also the title track to his debut album,
which debuted on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and had the
biggest first-week shipment in the history of Epic Records’ Nashville.
Between 1995 and 2002, Herndon charted 17 singles, including his three
No.1s and numerous top 10 hits, such as “I Want My Goodbye Back,”
“Loved Too Much,” “A Man Holding On,” and “Hands of a Working Man.”
He topped the charts in 1996 with the single “Living in a Moment” and
again in 1998 with “It Must Be Love.”
In 2010, Herndon released his album, Journey On. The album was heralded
as the most personal project of Herndon’s career, due in large part
to the fact that the project represented his first foray into songwriting. The
songs reflected the personal challenges and struggles Herndon faced and
conquered, and delivered on the promise of hope and new beginnings.
The album received critical acclaim and earned him a Grammy nomination
and his first Dove award.
Returning to his roots in country music and demonstrating his growth as
an artist, Herndon released Lies I Told Myself in 2013. With the album, he
found a new platform for bonding with fans. He invited the public to participate
in his album launch via a well-publicized Kickstarter campaign that
allowed fan investors to be involved both financially and emotionally. The
end result wasmony to Herndon’s affinity for connection; devotees more
than doubled the original funding goal.
In November of 2014, Ty Herndon became the first major male country
artist to publicly come out as gay.
Shortly after, he made history when
he hosted the first-of- its-kind country
music event, titled The Concert
for Love and Acceptance. The
event, designed to bring attention
and support to at-risk youth and
acceptance, received national attention
from Boston Globe, Rolling
Stone, Entertainment Tonight, People
Magazine and more. Herndon
received an outpouring of support
that only strengthened his relationship
with fans. Using his celebrity
influence for the better good, Herndon
is in the planning stages of a
new coalition called RALY, (Rescue
A Life Y’all) to help save lives and
raise awareness for those with addiction
or identity issues. A philanthropist
at heart, Herndon has also
donated his time to organizations
such as the Trevor Project, Make A
Wish, St. Jude, GLAAD, HRC and
Feed the Children.

back was lending his vocals
on the tribute track, “Hands.” The

GLAAD, is a musical tribute to the
victims of the recent shooting at
the Pulse nightclub in Orlando,
