Police Reports
Two charged with felony retail theft after alleged electronics grab
Mary C. Martin, 23, of
263 Illinois St. in Lemont,
Scott E. Williamson,
48, of 403 Doris Ave. in
Joliet, each were charged
April 9 with one count of
felony retail theft after they
allegedly tried to take 15
electronic items valued at
a total of $1,880.95 from a
store on Orland Park Place.
Martin reportedly grabbed
the merchandise, while Williamson
waited out front in
a 2008 BMW M5. She left
without paying for the items
and got into the car, which
was then stopped, police
said. Police reportedly also
found pills of two different
types, six each, as well as
a white rock substance, on
Martin’s property. The substance
weighed less than 1
gram and field tested positive
for cocaine, police said.
April 10
• Kenya T. Dawkins, 21,
484 S. Greenwood Ave.
in Kankakee, was charged
with theft after she allegedly
made false returns at a
department store at Orland
Square where she worked.
On April 6, she reportedly
took three clothing items
valued at $172.68, scanned
them as returns and put the
credit on a merchandise
card. She put the items back
on store shelves and left
with the card after her shift,
police said.
April 9
• Michael C. Slivka, 21, of
15706 Independence Court
in Oak Forest, was charged
with retail theft and criminal
trespass to property after
he allegedly tried to take an
AV adapter valued at $49.99
from a store in the 15700
block of 71st Court.
Slivka was spotted sitting
in the driver’s seat of a 2000
Toyota Corolla in the parking
lot of the store, police
said. The vehicle reportedly
was involved in a prior arrest
of Slivka. The photo in
the system matched Slivka
in the vehicle, and he was
arrested in December 2016
for a retail theft at the same
store, from which he then
received a trespass warning
for six months, police said.
Police reportedly found the
adapter in the vehicle and
saw him on footage from
the day before inside the
store. He allegedly took the
item and left the store without
paying for it.
April 8
tried to take five boxes
of hockey cards valued at a
total of $159.95 from a store
in the 15700 block of 71st
Court. He reportedly placed
them in a shopping cart and
left without paying for the
cards.
April 7
• Susie Bernadac, 27, of 903
21st Ave. in Melrose Park,
was charged with retail
theft, unlawful possession
of a hypodermic needle and
obstructing identification
after she allegedly tried to
take six palettes of makeup
valued at a total of $298
from a department store at
Orland Square. She reportedly
concealed the makeup
in her purse, left and got
into a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
that was stopped in the
14700 block of LaGrange
Road. She was in a seat in
the back, police said.
She allegedly gave a false
name and date of birth. She
matched the description
of the offender and was
positively identified, police
said. Inside the pockets of
her jacket, an officer found
two capped hypodermic
needles. She reportedly had
three active warrants, all
for retail theft — one out
of Cook County; one Niles;
and one Kenosha, Wisconsin.
April 5
• Zaron S. Graham, 26, of
715 W. 50th Place in Chicago,
was charged with felony
forgery after he allegedly
opened a charge account
with a Wisconsin driver’s
license that was not his
own and tried to buy merchandise
valued at $241.02
with the charge account at a
store on Orland Park Place.
He reportedly opened the
account, left the store, got
into the driver’s seat of a
car with Illinois registration,
went back inside and
bought the merchandise on
the account.
April 4
• Malina A. Horandau, 26,
of 15353 Catalina Drive in
Orland Park, was charged
with possession of a controlled
substance and retail
theft after she allegedly
tried to take 17 items valued
at a total of $122.49
from a grocery store in the
9500 block of 142nd Street.
Horandau was in the driver’s
seat of a 2007 Ford Fusion
with suspended registration,
police said. She had
two sandwiches and two
coffee drinks in her purse;
a package of paper towels
in the backseat; and alcohol,
bottled water and food
in the trunk; all taken from
the store, police said. She
reportedly put the items in a
cart and left without paying
for them. Police also reportedly
found a tube containing
a white powder in her purse,
as well as a cellophane
wrapper with white powder
residue. The substance field
tested positive for cocaine
and weighed approximately
.5 grams, police said.
conduct after he allegedly
threatened employees
with a 4-inch fixed knife
at a tire shop in the 9400
block of 159th Street. He
reportedly brought a 2008
Chevrolet Trailblazer into
the shop to get tires. He was
told the store had to get the
tires from another store and
was asked to wait in the
lobby, police said. He allegedly
eventually got angry,
walked outside, took the
knife off a holder on his hip,
raised it to his throat and
made a slashing motion,
yelled things about the tires
needing to get done faster,
and then pointed the knife
toward the service doors
and threatened employees.
Police reportedly recovered
the 4-inch blade plus two
pocket knives on his person
upon Parr’s arrest.
April 2
at $969 on another customer’s
account at a store at
Orland Square. A cellular
provider informed the store
that the account had been
suspended and noted that
the primary number for the
account holder had changed
online at the same time Savinon
was entered as an
authorized account user, police
said. She allegedly provided
the last four digits of
the account holder’s Social
Security number to verify
the account. She wanted to
finance the entire purchase
on the account, police said.
center median at Marley
Creek Boulevard and then
swerved right while driving
a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado
westbound on 179th Street
with one headlight. He reportedly
was stopped at
179th Street and Southwest
Highway. He had an odor
of alcohol on his breath,
bloodshot and glassy eyes,
and slurred speech, police
said. He showed signs of
impairment during field
sobriety tests, police added.
He allegedly refused a
breath sample. He had two
prior DUI violations, this
The other driver reportedly
provided a description.
The Acura and Lukas were
had bloodshot and watery
eyes, mumbled and slurred
speech, and an odor of alcohol
on her breath, police
said. A toxicology screening
reportedly was done, but the
alcohol concentration and
serum results were not provided
in the report.
In the pocket of the driver’s
seat, police reportedly
located three open 187 milliliter
bottles of wine with
“small amounts” of liquid
the driver’s seat, an officer
