START OF ACT #1
EXT. ARNOR ROAD DAY
KATRINA is in shock after seeing WENDAL appear next to her
and kill the soldier that held her hostage. WENDAL is
tapping her on the head. KATRINA snaps out of her shock and
for the first time noticed that she is tightly griping
WENDALS shirt.
WENDAL
(Smiling) )
Are you alright? For a second there
I thought I accidently hit you.
KATRINA looks up at WENDAL with a dazed look.
WENDAL
I guess your still trying to make
sense of what just happened.
Regardless-
WENDAL helps KATRINA to her feet.
WENDAL
We need to get moving now.
KATRINA finally regains her senses.
KATRINA
Wait what... how ... when?
WENDAL
Like I said I'm sure your still a
little surprised and right now-
While Wendall's talking he walks over to a soldier and takes
one of their knives. He walks over to KATERINA and cuts her
bindings then walks over MORN and does the same.
WENDAL (CONT'D)
We need to get out of Arnor
territory and head for the border
into Erros.
MORN
While I appreciate you coming to
help us I'm afraid we can't go with
you.
WENDAL
What do you mean you can't go? You
cant remain here in Arnor they'll
(MORE)

WENDAL (CONT'D)
KATRINA
Father I know our family has been
here for untold generations but
times have changed the war we once
thought far and distance is now
taking place at our doorstep.
MORN
Aye that may be true but we Barcker
have always been in Arnor and I
refuse to be the first one to
leave.
KATRINA
(Pleading)
Father please put that foolish
pride aside and come to terms with
the reality that we can't stay here
anymore our family will end here
today in Arnor unless we escape.
MORN
You have a point (whispers) still-
WENDAL
We need to go now!
KATRINA
What is it?
WENDAL
Soldiers and a lot of them.
MORN
Where? I don't hear or see any.
WENDAL
I can it sounds like the clanging
of pots and pans its distant but I
can definitely hear it getting
louder.
KATRINA
Can you make out how close they
are?
WENDAL
No... Hold on I have an idea mind
taking a step back.
Both KATRINA and MORN take a couple of steps back form

WENDAL.
WENDAL
I'll be right back.
WENDAL leaps strait up into the air breaking a few branches
as he launched up through the forest canopy. WENDAL looks
around. From the south west he could see plumes of smoke
about 30 to 40 miles away. WENDAL begins to fall, shortly
after he crashes through the canopy and lands on the ground.
KATRINA
Did you see anything?
WENDAL
Ya smoke about 30 or so miles away
at the pace there moving they'll
be on us by night fall.
KATRINA
Me and my father were talking and
he's agreed to leave the country.
MORN
Hold on there I said I'd go only if
we could get the proper documents
without those well be treated like
regular refugees.
KATRINA
Yes but well worry about that when
we get there for now we have to
keep on moving. Lets go.
The group starts walking back towards Andwar. WENDAL comes
beside KATRINA.
WENDAL
About those papers.
KATRINA
I know it's a big what if but I
don't know what else to do.
WENDAL
About that-
KATRINA
It's not as if we going to run into
someone with the authority to issue
documents while walking down the
road.

WENDAL
I think I can help with that.
WENDAL pulls out his papers and hands them to KATRINA.
KATRINA
(Mouth gaping)

WENDAL
(Smiling)

KATRINA jumps onto WENDAL and gives him a hug.
WENDAL
(Flustered)

WENDAL looks over to MORN who is glaring at him.

WENDAL
Anyway we should make to the gates
in a day or two if we keep to this
path.
FADE TO BLACK.
EXT. SOUTHERN ARNOR ROAD DAY
RONNOC has gathered his forces on the southern end of the
Arnor Road. His force is 100 strong made up of 25 archers,
50 foot soldiers, 15 scouts and 10 knights all of which are
part of his elite force capable of taking on armies 5 times
it's size. Their target WENDLE.
SOLDIER
Sir, Reports in.
RONNOC
(Happily)
(MORE)

RONNOC (CONT'D)
Wonderful, what is it.
SOLDIER
The scouts have made visual contact
with the target sir.
RONNOC
I thought I gave them strict orders
to go no where near him.
SOLDIER
Well according to the scouts they
say they saw a small object launch
into the air about 30 miles to our
North.
RONNOC lightly chuckled.
SOLDIER
Sir, what's so funny?
RONNOC
What? O nothing really I was just
thinking about how even the
powerful are prone to foolishness.
(To himself)
He really is just a kid.
SOLDIER
What was that sir?
RONNOC
Nothing. Is that all.
SOLDIER
Sir, that is all.
RONNOC
Good return to your post.
Sir!
SOLDIER
The soldier solutes and returns to the main force.

RONNOC (V.O.)
This is it the empires greatest
threat is about to meet his match.

EXT. ARNOR ROAD MID DAY
WENDAL, KATRINA and MORN have been traveling for a few hours
and continue to keep distance between them and RONNOC's
forces.
KATRINA
Anyone smell that?
Wasn't me
WENDAL
KATRINA
Not that its more potent than
smelly and gross.
WENDAL
Now that you mention it I do kinda
smell it. Smells like some ones
smoking a joint.
KATRINA
What's that?
WENDAL
Nothing forgot where I was for a
minute.
WENDAL and KATRINA continue forward with MORN taking up the
rear. MORN suddenly stops to sniff the air suddenly all the
blood rushes out of his face and he's pale as a sheet.
MORN
(Franticly)
GET OFF THE ROAD!
WENDAL
What it's not that bad.
MORN
(Panic)
It's coming there it wont get me
not here.
KATRINA
I've never seen him like this.
Something gotta be wrong go grab
him and get off the road just to be
safe.
WENDAL
(Reluctantly)
Alright.

WENDAL picks up MORN and KATRINA and jumps onto a near by
tree branch. As he does so a thick fog rolls over the road.
MORN
(Terrified)
There here.
Further down the road WENDAL and KATRINA could make out
figures and soon the cause of the smoke became clear.
Mugos.
KATRINA
WENDAL
Mountain pine?
KATRINA
No those thing down there are
Mugos.
WENDAL
What are they doing?
Hunting.
KATRINA
WENDAL
Wait those thing eat people?
KATRINA
No one knows, they come out of no
wear snatch up those who couldn't
get off the road quick enough and
leave.
Creepy.
WENDAL
One of the Mugo broke away from the group and walked to the
base of the tree WENDAL was hiding in. It looked strange its
body was like bark overlapping itself in an odd pattern on
its back was a pinecone spewing the yellow gas but most odd
was its face or rather its mask it was made of wood with
only two eye holes that where completely black. The Mugo
looked directly at WENDAL.
WENDAL
This thing is looking right at me.
KATRINA
Don't worry their blind those eye
holes are just for show.

WENDAL
Whatever you say.
As the black eyes looked stared at him he couldn't help but
feel uneasy as if he was standing close to the mouth of
some bottomless pit.
Jump
WHISPER
( (Faintly)
WENDAL began to lean froward and that sense of vertigo
overtook him.
KATRINA
(Shouting)
WENDAL!
A arm pulls WENDAL back and he snaps out of trance.
WENDAL
Whoa thanks KATRI-
WENDAL turns around to see that is was MORN who grabbed him.
WENDAL
(Surprised)
O MORN I mean Mr.Barck-
MORN
(Meekly)
You heard it.
WENDAL is taken back
MORN
I won't let them take another I
swear.
MORN...
WENDAL
MORN
There I go again. Don't mind me kid
I'm just a scared old man lost in
my own little world but I'm fine
now.
WENDAL
But what was all of tha-
MORN pulls WENDAL close.

They say the eyes are the gate way
to the soul, but what happens when
there's no soul behind those eyes,
what then?
MORN lets go of WENDAL and walks away. KATRINA runs over to
WENDAL.
KATRINA
Hey are you good? What happened.
WENDAL
I'm not sure, I was just looking at
the Mugo and suddenly it went dark.
KATRINA
That explains It no wonder my Dad
flipped out.
WENDAL
What do you mean? What happened?
KATRINA
I'll tell you later right now we
need to figure out were to go from
here.
WENDAL
What do you mean can't we just take
the road?
KATRINA shakes her head.
KATRINA
No, if the Mugos are awake that
means more could show up.
WENDAL
Ok what are our options?
KATRINA
Well we can try to brave the forest
but it's almost impossible to find
your way without an experienced
guide.
WENDAL
And the second option.
KATRINA
We could use the old pilgrims path
through the mountains, but there's

KATRINA (CONT'D)
supposedly a huge dire bear living
near the path so...
WENDAL
Mountain pass it is.
KATRINA
(Surprised)
Did you not hear me I said there's
a huge dire bear. I don't care how
strong you are a dire bear-
WENDAL
You mean the dire bear that's been
sitting dead at the bottom of a
ravine.
KATRINA
Wait come again?
WENDAL
O don't worry about it the dire
bears been taken care of. More
importantly do you know the way?
KATRINA
Ya believe it or not I recently
took a pilgrimage to the sacred
lake not to long ago.
WENDAL
You can tell me all about it on the
way there lets get going.
WENDAL and KATRINA run past MORN who looks back one last
time to see smoke fill the road again and from within a
silhouette of woman waves goodbye before disappearing again.

EXT. ARNOR ROAD DUSK
MORN
RONNOC and his army have arrived at the point where WENDAL
encountered the Mugo. The troops rest as they wait for the
scouts to come back.
RONNOC (V.O.)
This is strange the scout group
should have returned by now. On top
of that theirs an ominous air to
this place.

A the bush next to RONNOC begins to rustle and shake.
RONNOC
(Unsheathing his sword)
Who goes there show your self.
A scout hurtles out from the brush in a panic.
RONNOC
You know danm well not to sneak up
on me like that I could have killed
you.
The scout doesn't respond.
RONNOC
(Angry)
Did you here me soldier and look at
me when I'm talking to you.
RONNOC touches the scout on the shoulder. The scout jumps as
if startled. He turns to face RONNOC and it became clear to
him what was going on. He sheaths his sword and puts both
his hand on the scouts shoulders.
RONNOC
It's ok you're safe go return home
see your family you've done enough.
The scout snaps out of his panic for a few moments.
SCOUT
(Shuddering)
T..Th..Th..The targets heading east
to into the mountains.
RONNOC
Thank you now go.
RONNOC (V.O.)
So there headed to the old pilgrims
path through the mountains. Clever
but foolish.
RONNOC returns to the main force.
RONNOC
Men get moving we make for the
mountains and make it snappy we
(MORE)

RONNOC (CONT'D)
have a pack of Mugos heading this
way.
The men shutter at the mention of the Mugos and begin to
march with an added haste.
EXT. PILGRIMS PASS ENTRANCE DAY
The group had rested in a near by cave for the night and
after a quick check from the air WENDAL saw no change in the
distance between him and the pursuing army.
KATRINA
So how's it looking?
WENDAL
Where all good looks like they
stopped for the night to but they
are moving faster than they were
before.
KATRINA
Then we better get moving ill go
get my father.
KATRINA goes into the cave to go wake her father WENDAL is
alone.
WENDAL (V.O.)
Mr. Morn been acting weird ever
since the encounter with the Mugos
I wonder what the deal with that
is.
KATRINA and MORN emerge from the cave.
WENDAL
Sleep well?
MORN offers a shrug in response and brushes past WENDAL.
WENDAL
Did I do something wrong?
KATRINA
It's nothing like that it's...
complicated.
WENDAL
What happened common you can tell
me.
Befor KATRINA can speak she hears her father yelling.

(Distant shouting)
Hurry up Kat you're the only one
who knows the way.
KATRINA
(Shout)
I'm coming.
KATRINA runs over to the entrance of the mountain passage
with WENDAL shortly behind her.
MORN
Lead the way.
KATRINA pauses remembering the last time she stood at the
gates of this pass with her mother. Then after a few moments
she heads in with the rest of the group in tow.
EXT. PILGRIMS PASS HIGH IN THE ARNOR MOUNTAINS LATE
AFTERNOON
The group is walking through a narrow section on the path
large walls tower high above them past their view and into
the clouds. KATRINA is leading the way followed by WENDAL
then MORN.
WENDAL
I've never seen mountains so tall
they look like they go on forever.
KATRINA
People say that the mountains reach
so high that if you where to climb
to the top you'd be able to see
heaven.
WENDAL
I didn't think a place like this
would even believe in heaven.
KATRINA
Of course we do, but now a days
people like to put their faith into
weapons and walls rather then some
unseen deity.
WENDAL
I had no idea that religion was
such a universal thing.
KATRINA
You mean you have religion where

WENDAL
Ya, but I'm no expert my family
doesn't really talk about, it my
dad was raised catholic but we only
go to the christmas service .
KATRINA looks at WENDAL in confusion
WENDAL
Yes, there's religion, no I don't
practice any of it.
KATRINA
Any? You mean there's more than
one?
WENDAL
There only one religion here?
KATRINA
Yes, it's as old as time itself.
WENDAL
(Snarky)

KATRINA
(Ignoring Wendal)
The three Gods of this land used
there powers to create the 3
contents. The eldest and wisest God
created Nur the biggest content,
the two younger Gods created the
other two contents Erros and Arnor
each God created a helpers to
assist them in maintaining the
lands they created and thus we
humans were born. The Gods lived
among the helpers for centuries
creating vast cities each with
there own blessings from the Gods.
Wisdom for Nur, Strength for Arnor,
and Will for Erros. Then shortly
after the Gods vanished and no one
has heard or seen them since.
WENDAL
They vanished?

Yes, they vanished without a trace.
The old text say the God's were no
longer needed that they moved on.
No ones seen them for almost 6
thousand years. And in those long
years the gifts the gods blessed
there people with turned wicked for
the wise started hoarding knowledge
and keeping it for their own and
the strong made castles and armies
to dominate the weak...
WENDAL
What about gift the gods gave to
Erros didn't it backfire too?
KATRINA
(Smiles)
No, instead the people of Erros
turned to hope.
Hope?
WENDAL
KATRINA
Yes, for you see the power to be
strong willed is also the power of
hope. Through the power of will you
can always move forward despite the
circumstances and because of this
the people were able to hope for a
tomorrow to when the gods return
and bring a new area of peace.
WENDAL
I think I understand what you're
saying, but theirs just something I
don't get.
KATRINA

WENDAL
Why would a Arnorain such as your
self know so much about the Erros
beliefs?
KATRINA continues walking but turns her head to look at
WENDAL.

Before KATRINA can finish shes trips and falls down into a
large ditch the ground at the bottom of the ditch is
unstable and gives way under her weight causing her lower
legs to sink into the loose rock and gravel.
WENDAL
(From the mouth of the
ditch)
ARE YOU OK!
KATRINA
Ya but I think I'm stuck. Hold on
maybe if I...
KATRINA tries to use the ground next to her as leverage but
in doing so only causes her to sink deeper.

KATRINA
WENDAL
Don't move I'm coming.

No don't if you go down there to
the whole ditch will collapse in on
itself.
WENDAL
Well then I guess I'll just have to
be quick.
WENDAL using his inhuman speed runs down to KATRINA and
picks her up and out of hole she was buried in Then with
KATRINA in his arms jumps out of ditch before it completely
collapses.
WENDAL?

WENDAL

Well text time do you think you

WENDAL
What do you mean?
KATRINA motions to her feet. WENDAL noticed that her shoes
are gone.
WENDAL
So what you lost a pair of shoes
you can get a new pair when we get
to Erros.
KATRINA
Alright, but your forgetting a
major detail.

WENDAL
KATRINA
(angrily)
How am I supposed walk on a ancient
gravel path without any shoes!
WENDAL
O now I get it. I'll just carry you
you're really not that heavy.
KATRINA
(flustered)
What's that supposed to mean.

thought.
KATRINA scoffs at WENDAL. MORN who's been watching up to
this point lets out a chuckle.
KATRINA
What so funny father.
MORN
O nothing you kids just reminding
me of the old days when I used to
come up her with-
MORN trails off and stops talking all together and begins to
walk again.

Let's keep going we've waisted
enough time the army's got to right
on our heels.
WENDAL nods and follows behind morn with KATRINA on his
back.
A few hours past and path opened up to reveal the
breathtaking view of mountain range silhouetted against the
scarlet sky of the setting sun.
Kat.
Ya.
WENDAL
KATRINA
WENDAL
What happed to your mother?
KATRINA doesn't say anything.
WENDAL
It alright if you don't want to
talk about it.
KATRINA
The Mugos took her.
WENDAL stops for a moment as he recalls his first encounter
with a Mugo the strange black and the whisper. They continue
to walk in silence.
EXT. PILGRIMS PASS HIGH IN THE ARNOR MOUNTAINS NIGHT
A dog digs through the dirt franticly.
SOLDIER
Sir, without the scouts we have no
way of knowing the targets
location.
I aware.
RONNOC
SOLDIER
Then why are we stopped. shouldn't
we be trying to close the distance
between us and them?
RONNOC
Soldier what do you see.

Sir, it a sink hole there quite
common here during the wet season.
RONNOC

minded you have to learn to look at
everything with a more open mind.

happened here there's been no rain
these past couple days so it being
natural is out of the question.

SOLDIER

The dog stops digging and pulls up a pair of boots.
RONNOC
It seems someone's lost their boots
soldier it be dangerous for them to
walk this bath bare foot don't you
think we should return them?
SOLDIER

RONNOC
Common boys we don't want to keep
the lady waiting.
The dog starts running and close behind the rest of the army
follows.
RONNOC (V.O.)

catch them at the grove lets hope
my little insurance plan could make
it there without he boots.
EXT. THE SACRED GROVE NIGHT
The group enters a small patch of trees that then opens up
into a large grove of flowers with a latge pond in the
center. The field is alight with fire flies and the light of
the fool moon gives the grove an angelic atmosphere.
WENDAL
We made it!
KATRINA
(Excitedly)
Quick let me down I want to feel
the grass between my toes.
WENDAL
Alright alright give me a sec.
KATRINA run around in the field dancing and frolicking
around. WENDAL watches in amusement before his attention is
shifted to MORN who walked up next to him.
MORN
This was her favorite place.
WENDAL
Still looks like it is.
MORN
I'm talking about my wife.

WENDAL

We were on our way back from a
picnic in the county side I had one
two many beers and didn't notice
the smell that comes right before
they show up.
WENDAL

Ya those monsters. Anyway I wasn't
paying attention and before I knew
it I was out cold. When I woke up I
surprised I wasn't on some steak

being roasted over a fire I thought
we lucked out I was thanking the
gods when I turned around to see a
Mugo had taken the spot my wife
was. It looked at me with those
holes for eyes and I thought I
heard I heard my wife whisper "Why"
"Why didn't you protect me". I ran
back to the tavern and never left
the city walls again.
Mr. Mo-
WENDAL
MORN
Don't mention it kid. Listen Im
going to check the exit you keep an
eye on me daughter and do what I
couldn't for her mother.
WENDAL
Of course.
MORN
Good then I'll leave you too it.

WENDAL
WENDAL looks over to see KATRINA standing by the lake the
light of the moon reflecting of the pond onto her face and
along with the assortment of flowers now in her hair she
looked like something strait out of a story book.
MORN
(Whispers)
I'm sorry
WENDAL
What was that?
MORN
Nothing now get going she not going
to wait forever.
MORN Walks off leaving WENDAL alone with KATRINA. WENDAL
walks over to KATRINA side. They both silenty stare into the
pond.
KATRINA
Thanks for caring me.

KATRINA takes a step towards WENDAL.
KATRINA
Listen I was wondering... I was
wondering if I could thank you.

WENDAL
KATRINA
(embarrassed)

WENDAL
KATRINA
Listen I don't know but I feel like
I owe you something you've done so
much for me and my father so please
let me thank you.
Alright.
WENDAL
As KATRINA leans in WENDLE notices a glint of a mattalic
objet and spins KATRINA around and sheilding her with is
back. The arrow imbeds inself into his back it isn't in deep
but it is painful.
WENDAL
You alright.
KATRINA nods. Another arrow strikes a few feet away WENDAL
only had a few moments to react but he pushed KATRINA to the
ground just as the main volley of 25 archers came down and
impacted against his back. WENDAL in pain try's to assess
the situation as the remaining RONNOC forces encircle him
and KATRINA. WENDAL franticly look for a way to escape but
the barrage of arrows has left him injured.
RONNOC
I'm not partial to surprise attacks
there's no glory to be gained in
killing an unaware opponent. You
however aren't a normal opponent.

RONNOC
Who am I where are my manners.
Takes off his helmet.
RONNOC
I'm general RONNOC RYNHART
commander of the great Arnor army.
And who might you be boy
WENDAL.
WENDAL
RONNOC
Well WENDAL you are herby sentenced
to death for affiliation with the
Erros kingdom, murder and assault
of multiple Arnorian soldiers and
one count of poaching in the kings
mountains. How do you plead.
WENDAL says nothing his mind racing looking for possible
escapes.
WENDALS in shock
RONNOC
I see what your trying to do your
like a animal backed up into the
corner, but unlike a wild animal
you won't do anything at the
expense of her life will you.
WENDAL
You leave her out of this.
RONNOC
I intend to her father and I made a
deal your life for hers.
KATRINA
No your lying my father would never
do somthing like that.
RONNOC
O he made it very clear that he was
willing to do anything to keep you
safe. You grab her and restrain her
well deliver her to her father
after this whole ordeal is over.

The Soldier goes over to try and apprehend KITRINA but is
bet with a swift punch to the gut crumpling his armor and
cough up blood before colapsing on the floor dead.
WENDAL
I said leave her out of this.
WENDAL picks up a sword.
WENDAL
Let say we settle this me and you.
RONNOC
O your challenging me to a duel.
WENDAL
Ya and if I win you turn tail and
go back to were you came.
RONNOC
I have a better idea why don't we
just try to kill eachother and the
winner lives I've seen a lot of
your types always with your
compromises.
WENDAL
Fine by me.
WENDAL lunges forward with all his speed and strength poised
to kill RONNOC but he stoped short by the spears of the
knights. The spears cut through him.
RONNOC
I never agreed to fight you I'd be
foolish to try to take on the God
of Erros on even if he isn't fully
realized.
WENDAL
What are you talking about.
RONNOC
You mean you didn't know the very
message you were tasked with
delivering?
WENDAL
What message?
WENDAL is barely remaining consciousness as his blood flows
form his wounds.

RONNOC
Emits Green the Eross spy was
tasked with finding the old god of
erros who was prophesize
to return after 6,000 years. It's
you WENDLE the wondering god.
WENDAL slips out of Consciousness and is met with a light.
UNKOWN VOICE
Great Wonder of worlds the time has
come to return once again. Go to
your people and give them hope.
WENDAL suddenly awakens to find himself floating in the lake
his wounds are gone and his clothing has been replaced with
armor.
UNKOWN VOICE
Take in your hand your sword and
use the powers of these holy
grounds and cleave the land in two
end the war and usher in a new area
of peace for your people.
WENDAL unsheathes the blade and with a swift slash cleaves
the entire content split down the boarder. General RONNOC
army was engulfed by the splitting earth leaving only RONNOC
to retreat back onto the mountain defeated and disgraced.
The contents became two and with his remaining power called
oppon the tides of the great ocean to push the continent
away form each other. The only people remaining on what left
in the sacred grove is WENDAL, KATRINA and MORN.
KATRINA nods
KATRINA
