South
Devon
Home to the
most breathtaking
coastline, beaches
and countryside
in England,
South Devon is a
remarkable place
to visit
WITH 3 AREAS OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY,
AND 30 MILES OF UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE
COASTLINE, THE OUTSTANDING LANDSCAPE OFFERS
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE ALL YEAR ROUND.
1
The coastline reaches from the historic Jurassic Coast at Lyme
Regis, 115 miles to the naval port of Plymouth – all of which is
part of the walkable South West Coast Path.
The Jurassic Coast dates back 250 million years and has UNESCO
status – you may even find a dinosaur or two! The East Devon
Coast offers majestic red cliffs, dramatic coastline, beaches, and
the seaside towns of Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth,
Seaton, Branscombe and Beer.
The Southern coastline features large yellow sandy beaches and
beautiful secluded coves, dotted with seaside towns, villages and
harbours, such as Dawlish, Teignmouth, Salcombe and
Dartmouth. The notorious Burgh Island and Bantham are truly
beautiful, and Blackpool Sands has been voted one of the best
beaches in the UK. The coastline is so varied you are bound to
find the beach for you – family friendly, dog friendly, surfing,
paddle-boarding, sailing, or just a quiet cove to relax in.
2
Inland, the picturesque countryside is scattered with towns and
villages, rolling hills, patchwork farmland and estuary views.
