itC extends its aluminium milling
reaCh with new series
To ensure the ever evolving
demands of its customer base are
met, Industrial Tooling
Corporation (ITC) has now
developed yet another innovative
new end mill series. The latest end
mill series to arrive from the
visionary R&D team at ITC is the
new 3301 Cyber Series for the
machining of deep cavities in
aluminium components.
The new 3301 Series 3-flute
aluminium roughing tool is a
particularly long, yet extremely
stable end mill that has the
capacity to effectively machine
inside cavities where competitor
tools cannot reach. Designed for
heavy-duty aluminium removal
applications, the new 3301 Series
has knuckled outer edge geometry
for robust roughing with rapid
swarf evacuation.
The centre-cutting solid
carbide series is available in 6, 8,
10, 12, 16 and 20mm diameters
with the shank diameter identical
to the cutting diameter. This
maximises the stability and
rigidity of the tool as it reaches
into difficult to access faces and
corners. Furthermore, when the
optimised shank dimensions are
combined with the edge and flute
geometry, the new 3301 Series
offers scintillating performance
levels.
The development team at Sumitomo Electric
Hardmetal has released AC6000M, a new
series of turning insert grades and three
chipbreaker styles to cover roughing, semifinishing
and the finish machining of ferritic
high chrome, Martensitic, austenitic, twophase
austenitic/ferritic materials as well as
precipitation hardening stainless steels.
The range comprising AC6020M,
AC6030M and AC6040M inserts are suitable
for continuous, light interrupted and heavy
interrupted cutting conditions at speeds up
to 250m/min demonstrating longer in-cut
tool life, high resistance to wear and
chipping. Thus they are able to create a
stable machined surface compared to more
conventional insert grades used on stainless
steel materials.
Meanwhile, the three types of chipbreaker
NEF, NEG and NEM help to manage the
chipping process across the insert grades,
Ensuring the 3301 Series can
reach such inaccessible areas, ITC
has 'necked' the tool to offer
maximum clearance and guarantee
that shank interference with the
workpiece is a thing of the past. This
allows the respective diameters to
offer a cutting edge of reach up to 18,
24, 30, 36, 48 and 60mm. Despite this
impressive reach range, the surface
finish, tool life and overall stability
are maintained by a geometry
design that retains an 8 to 24mm
cutting length depending upon the
tool diameter selected. As well as its
impressive reach characteristics, the
3301 Series has been manufactured
with an overall tool length from
90mm for the 6mm diameter tool up
to 150mm for the 20mm diameter
cutter. The extended neck length
and overall length of the 3301 Series
offers some major benefits to
aerospace manufacturers
continually machining pockets and
cavities.
The respective tool diameters
have a neck diameter of 5.6mm,
7.5m 9, 11, 14.8 and 18.7mm with the
18 to 60mm reach. However, as a UK
manufacturer ITC can extend the
neck length or alter the neck
diameter to accommodate the
specific demands of the customer.
new range of
artiCulated
extraCtion
arms
Articulated extraction arms are the best and
most cost-efficient solution for applications
where extraction of small volumes of gases,
dust and fume is required within a limited
area. Nederman has now launched its new
range of FX2 extraction arms that are small,
maneuverable and easy to use, and are
therefore ideal for such applications.
The new Nederman FX2 range is
designed to capture pollutants as close to
their source as possible. A high capture rate
is achieved with minimum energy use, and
any hazardous airborne substances are
removed before they reach an operator’s
breathing zone or contaminate premises and
goods. From an end user perspective, the
new Nederman FX2 is packed with benefits
that include low noise levels and improved
energy efficiency, stable positioning with
easy maneuverability, an aesthetically
pleasing user friendly design and complete
freedom when planning installations. All
these features combine to make the new
Nederman FX2 range the most desirable
solution for efficient 'at-source' extraction of
small air flows.
The low noise level and improved energy
efficiency of the FX2 arms was achieved
using computerised simulations during the
design phase. The result is a highly improved
air flow with lower pressure loss, meaning
smaller fans can be used which consume less
energy. Complementary products such as
Nederman fans, ducting and control units
can increase the energy efficiency even
further. This reduces the noise level to an
impressive level that is 5 dB less than
alternate extraction arms on the market.
As with many products from the
extensive Nederman portfolio, the new
Nederman’s FX2 arms are available with a
choice of options.
