HIGH SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER term I 2017
Education centre for Science & Global Impact
administration and staff have done their best to
handle the students professionally.
Achievements herein;
We held a Visitation day which was a success;
I thank all the parents that visited our students,
but again encourage you who did not turn up
to respect that day come next term. Time of
visitation is 10:00am to 5:00pm on only the
gazetted Sunday in the term.
The school installed the MTNBooth in the
school to ease communication for our students,
the cards are bought from the school bursar at a
fee of 5000/=, we encourage each parent to get
one for the student since no staff member will
be allowed to give any student personal phones
to communicate home. This has been reached to
monitor discipline and the safety of our students.
As a parent you will be required to take note of
the number your child uses.
In the field of extra-curricular activities, I am
glad to mention, that our school took part in the
Buganda Royal Shield Music Festival for the first
time and it emerged third in position out of ten
secondary schools. We thank our students for
the formidable teamwork and the love for their
school. Please thank them on our behalf and find
out whether your child was part of the team,
what role he/she played in the success of the
team.
Thirteen student leaders attended the annual
student leadership conference for Kampala and
Wakiso districts.We believe this gave them the
opportunity to interact with the students from
other schools, they didn’t remain the same.
Challenges herein to;
We have been vigilant with the discipline
in school throughout the term. On behalf of
the school disciplinary committee and entire
community I thank the parents who continue
to work with us. Only two students in senior
six were sent home for two weeks when they
misbehaved, but since then they have too
changed to fit in the school culture. Other cases
still challenging are those of theft, minor fights
between boys, use of abusive statements, etc, but
we are continuing to handle. On this, dear parents
and guardians, it’s our humble appeal that we
work together by cross checking your children
to find out items they possess but you didn’t
buy them. Our challenge still remains with
in-dormitory theft where we can’t install the
CCTV cameras for fear of encroaching on the
students’ privacy.
You are requested to train the students,
on how to cooperate with others to avoid
unnecessary conflicts while they live in a
community. This is because sometimes we have
discovered some students reflecting what they are
at home. However when the school administration
invites you to school please endeavour to turn up for
the good of your child.
There is also need to train students domestic
work and how to look after their items. It has been
discovered that some students misuse their items
by neglecting them, especially clothes thereafter
accusing others of stealing them.Boys still find it
hard to clean themselves but we are doing what it
takes to help them improve.Therefore, during this
holiday, please task them to clean for themselves
and take care of their items.
School fees;
We do highly appreciate all our parents and
guardians who have paid all the school dues before
the end of the term, thank you. However, we remind
those who have not cleared to do so in time to avoid
inconveniencing our students always. Come next
term, no student shall be allowed in school without
clearing at least 50 per cent of fees for second term.
Some of the term two plan;
Our students shall be touring the country and for
this year shall be western Uganda, which will take
05 days at a fee of 280,000/=, the tour is open to all
students. Parents are advised to take this project so
serious, for the S.4 and A’ level geography students it
will be compulsory for the field work purposes. The
tours shall go on as we intend to be visiting always
for exploration of our country and parts around the
world. The tour will be in the month of August 2017.
We shall be conducting students’ leadership
electoral exercise in the month of June. The doors
will be open to senior one to three and five students.
We encourage you to motivate your child to stand
since leadership begins in our homes to schools
and then national sphere. ‘‘Why let your child be led
always, why not yours to lead others?’’
Remainder on key requirements for the student
in school;
Please take note of the requirements your child
has to come with on the first day to avoid any
inconvenience to both the school management and
the child. Therefore no student shall be cleared on
the first day if missing any item. The items that are
too old and worn out should be replaced before
reporting to school. It means that the parent or
guardian should be in position to cross check what
the child comes with to school. No plea shall be taken
in response.
Finally, I wish you fruitful deliberations with our
students as you receive them for this holiday from
28th April 2017 to 22nd May 2017.
