WELCOME TO FISHPONDS ROAD
AT TOP FIELD TODAY:
So here we are, the final home league game of the
season and at the time of writing we still don’t
know for sure whether we are in the play-offs or
been pipped at the post? Will today settle it or just
add to the mayhem of the final Saturday fixtures?
One thing is for certain – the Waders, our friends
and rivals from up the A1 will be doing their best
to put a spoke in our wheel (to use the appropriate
vernacular for the town that can boast Dan Albone
as one of their own).
So for the final occasion this season I bid a warm
welcome to the Players, Officials and Supporters
of Biggleswade Town and trust that they enjoy
their brief stay in our company. Whatever happens
in the final few matches this month, few can argue
that both sides appearing today have had a good
season. The Waders form over the run in has been
excellent – better than our own, I might venture
and we are sure to witness a competitive contest.
MATCH SPONSOR:
Plumbase have been supporting our Matchball
Sponsorship opportunities for the last few seasons
and Rob Vroom and his party are once again our
welcome guests. The local outlet is based at Cooks
Way near the station and is the place to go for all
your plumbing requirements – domestic and
industrial. Thanks once again Rob – have a good
afternoon in our company.
TODAY’S MASCOTS
Hitchin Town Youth U7 teams are here this
afternoon to lend their support. More information
on these young lads at the start of their footballing
journeys appears on page8. Have a great
experience in the limelight lads.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR FANS AND OUR
SPONSORS THIS SEASON:
As a Community Club, Hitchin Town FC makes
every effort to support other groups and charities
with like-minded intentions. As in previous seasons
we have proved our commitment to support local
and national bodies where possible and this has
been manifested by the number of different groups
that have benefited from the incredible generosity
of the Hitchin Town faithful. In terms of recipients
The Garden House Hospice are in the company
inter alia of MacMillan Cancer, the RAF Benevolent
Fund, Prostate Cancer Charity, Humanitas, Sands
and the Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer
Charities. Some £3,500 has, in total, been passed
over to deserving causes this season – Thanks
indeed.
Without Sponsors, Business Partners, Advertisers
or whatever parlance one chooses to use, this
Football Club would be in a significantly worse
place than it finds itself today. Of course this is only
one essential income stream, supplementing gate
receipts, Supporters’ Trust donations and bar
income, on the “receipts” side of the Club’s balance
sheet. It is always difficult to single out some
sponsors above the many, because believe me they
are all absolutely crucial whether they contribute
£50 or £2000, however, special thanks are due to
the following:
Screenbond of Baldock, Hitchin Audi, Hitchin
Swimming Centre, Mastercars, Ridgeons, Aztec
Logistics, Barry Bolton Windows, Optime,
FlipConnect and Taylors Coaches.
MATCH SUMMARIES:
Hitchin Town 1 Chippenham Tn 3
On a glorious afternoon, the Bluebirds, Champions
elect, arrived at Top Field in the form that had
produced a 22 game unbeaten run. Unfortunately
for us, we could do little to halt that sequence. An
end to end game during which we had more than
an even share of possession, once again
underlined the importance of that extra bit of
confidence. Even Chippenham’s defenders
clinically finished the chances that came their way
– whereas our efforts be they from front middle or
the back, were either wide or tame by comparison.
Aerially, we hardly won a ball all afternoon, be that
in defence or attack. Will Wright’s penalty was all
that we had to show for 90 minutes of endeavour
and good football which on the day, just came up
short.
