Hitchin V Biggleswade.qxp_Layout 1 11/04/2017 07:32 Page 39 THE FINAL WORD with Chairman Terry Barratt Today is the last League game of the 2016/17 Season. We have made great strides both on and off the Pitch to justify, potentially a place in the Playoffs. As our fans are aware we need to finish 2nd, or 3rd. to secure a home game in the Semi- final of the Play offs. Can we go one better than last year to reach the Final? We have a young team that Mark and Adam have kept together for 3 Seasons. They are doubtless getting better and our style of play is a joy to watch. Having played some teams from the Conference, we have performed well and will not be out of place if we gain promotion. If successful, we know what we have to do to the ground. Obviously the lights are now at Conference ‘A’ grade (minimum 250 lux) with the reading at 375 lux. We need another working turnstile. We have 5, but need 6. The Bedford Road gate is the obvious site. Increasing the size of the dressing rooms is the biggest problem. We need to be 18 square metres whereas we are nearly 16 at present. This can be achieved, but, at a cost. Work is envisaged to start in the close season. We have agreed a budget for the pitch. 100 tons of sand and topsoil, 25 bags of grass seed, verti-draining and fertilizing are all scheduled to start after May 5th. As you will appreciate we will need to keep the pitch well watered and cut regularly. Please cheer on the team today, they have all worked their socks off this Season. Enjoy the game, Terry HITCHIN TOWN FC : WHO’S WHO CLUB INFORMATION Address: Top Field Fishponds Road Hitchin Herts SG5 1NU – tel 01462 459028 Canary Club and Bar Manager : Ian and Jackie Mann tel 01462 421888 www.hitchintownfc.co.uk : Facebook – Hitchin Town : Twitter – HitchinTownFC Management Committee: Terry Barratt (Chairman), Andy Melvin (Director), Roy Izzard (Secretary/Treasurer), Len Leroux (Ground/Safety Officer), Fred Andrews & Mick Docking (Commercial), David Tudball (Supporters Trust Chair) President - Tony Huckle Club Administrator/Fixture Secretary - Chris Newbold Ground Works – Andy Smith, Geoff Thomason, Steve Barker, Marek and Matt Malarowski, Gary Prutton, Kevin Lowe, Paul Moon, Mark Mountney, Josh Silver, Frank King, Len Leroux Physio - Connor Moran, Nadia Child, Nick Sopowski, Mark Whittle Matchday Commercial & Supporters Club– Frank King, Irvin Morgan, John Gray, Peter Murrell, Ian Murrell, Pete Chapman, Gemma Chapman, Len Leroux Matchday Gates/Parking – Jan Ware, Roger Pennie, Chris Dodd Media & Tannoy – Nick Sopowski, Colin Ridgway, Mick Docking, Andy Dennis Supporters Trust – David Tudball.
