R
 Provides Commanders access to
key command and control systems
needed for joint operations
Self deployable within the area of
operations
 Mission Flexible Communications
System
Airborne Command and
Control System’s (A2C2S) Stateof-the-Art
mission equipment
package integrates on UH-
60L Helicopters to provide
Commanders from Brigade
to Theater Level the ability to
exercise positive command and
control on current and future
joint battlefields. It provides
commanders and their staff
real-time situational awareness
and a single operations center
from which to command and
control forces in operations
across the operational spectrum.
Raytheon’s A2C2S supports
digitized and non-digitized
forces under all operational
scenarios including large scale
mechanized operations, smaller
scale special operations and
Home Land Defense. A2C2S
has the capability to work on
site with civilian emergency
management agency’s first
responders and to provide the
all important link to National
Guard and Active Military Units
employed in Disaster response
and Home Land Security.
Background
The A2C2S operates equally well as an airborne
or a ground TOC. The A2C2S provides five
work stations and the ability for the Tactical
Commander and staff to be where they need
to be to most effectively command and
control forces during critical missions. Combat
Operations in Iraq have proven the A2C2S to
be a force multiplier, essential to successful
military operations on modern battlefields.
Raytheon was selected by the
U.S. Army in 2001 to design
and qualify the A2C2S.
Raytheon was asked in Fall
2002 to provide additional
“Rapid Deployment” aircraft,
to meet urgent operational
needs. These were delivered
Spring 2003. The net result:
Raytheon provided combat
capable systems almost a
year ahead of the original
schedule for immediate
deployment. The aircraft
deployed to Iraq have been
proven in battle to be reliable
and highly effective.
The A2C2S provides five work stations
to the Commander and his staff, each
capable of using all of the battle
command systems needed on the
modern battlefield, providing full
TOC capability in the air or on the
ground.
