to the escarpment at the edge of the ecoregion. The upper Cunene river system in the south is rich<br />

in fish (63 species), of which 13% are endemic.<br />

Three protected areas are incorporated – Bicuari, Mupa and Luando – but their current status is<br />

not known.<br />
