it to him. Never betray anyone's trust, not even if <strong>the</strong> person<br />

concerned has failed to stand by his commitments to you.<br />

Save yourself from <strong>the</strong> curse <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> oppressed person who<br />

seeks his rights from All\h, for All\h never denies<br />

<strong>the</strong> rightful claimant his rights.<br />

ON THE AUTHORITY OF `AL£ IBN AB£ ^¬LIB.<br />

If a Muslim farms <strong>the</strong> land or plants a tree, and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

a bird, a beast or a man eats something from it,<br />

he receives in return <strong>the</strong> reward <strong>of</strong> charity.<br />

The lawful is clear and <strong>the</strong> unlawful is clear.<br />

But between <strong>the</strong>se two are matters which are unclear.<br />

Thus, a man who avoids that which may be a sin<br />

will be even more sure to avoid <strong>the</strong> open sin.<br />

And it is feared that he who dares to engage in that<br />

which he is doubtful <strong>of</strong> will eventually indulge in open sin.<br />
