Graduation Rate (IPEDS)<br />

Full-Time Program <strong>Student</strong>: A majority of <strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong><br />

<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> students attend on a part-time basis;<br />

therefore, they are not included in this group or calculation.<br />

This report is made to comply with the <strong>Student</strong> Right<br />

to Know legislation, which shows the graduation rate for<br />

full-time associate of applied science degree and technical<br />

diploma program students. <strong>Student</strong>s included in this calculation<br />

consist of first-time, full-time students. The calculation<br />

is based on students graduating within 150 percent of their<br />

program time frame; i.e., a two-year associate of applied<br />

science degree student would have three years to graduate<br />

and a one-year technical diploma student would have one<br />

and one-half years to graduate.<br />

The following criterion is used in establishing the student<br />

group:<br />

• Associate of applied science degree or technical diploma<br />

program students<br />

• Full-time program students (12 or more credits)<br />

• Program students who started in the fall semester<br />

• Program students who have not previously taken a<br />

course at <strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong> (first-time students)<br />

IPEDS Graduation Rates<br />

This rate is calculated as the total number of completers<br />

within 150 percent of normal time divided by the revised<br />

cohort minus any categories of allowed exclusions.<br />

Data is collected on the number of students entering the<br />

institution as full-time, first-time, degree- or certificateseeking<br />

undergraduate students in a particular year (cohort)<br />

by race/ethnicity and gender; the number completing their<br />

program within 150 percent of normal time to completion;<br />

and the number who transfer to other institutions if transfer<br />

is part of the institution’s mission. (Since preparing students<br />

to transfer to another college is not part of our mission,<br />

transfer students are not separated from the cohort for<br />

IPEDS Graduation Rate calculations.)<br />

<strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> associate of applied science<br />

degree and technical diploma programs.<br />

Graduation<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s who are in their last semester of courses towards<br />

any program sought or who have one concluding course<br />

for the summer are eligible to participate in the annual May<br />

graduation ceremony.<br />

Upon the recommendation of the Registrar’s Office and by<br />

virtue of the authority vested in it, the <strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Technical</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> District Board may confer the associate of<br />

applied science degree, technical diploma or certificate to<br />

students who have satisfactorily completed the following:<br />

• The required occupational specific, general education<br />

and elective courses<br />

• The program exit assessment requirements<br />

• The Graduate Application form with $30 application fee<br />

for each degree sought<br />

• All financial obligations to <strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong><br />

• Achieved a 2.0 grade point average in all attempted<br />

credits required in the program<br />

• Earned a grade of “C” or higher (unless otherwise<br />

specified) for each course required in the program<br />

Graduate Training<br />

<strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> guarantees up to six credits<br />

of additional coursework to graduates of <strong>Moraine</strong> <strong>Park</strong> that<br />

do not become employed in their program or related area<br />

within six months after graduation or whose employer verifies<br />

that the graduate does not have entry-level job skills. A<br />

graduate of an associate of applied science degree program<br />

or technical diploma program who is a resident of Wisconsin<br />

is exempt from tuition and fees for up to six credits within<br />

the same occupational program for which the degree or<br />

diploma was awarded if the graduate applies for the exemption<br />

within six months of graduation and any of the following<br />

applies:<br />

• The graduate must provide written verification to the<br />

Registrar that certifies all of the following apply:<br />

1. The graduate has not secured employment in the<br />

occupational field in which he or she received the<br />

degree or diploma.<br />

2. The graduate has actively pursued employment in<br />

that occupational field.
