Fire Exits and Alarms
There are signs near the exits indicating the exit route from
the building in the event of a fire or any other emergency
requiring evacuation. The signal for evacuation of the building
is a loud steady buzzer as well as a blinking light near
the ceiling that is a warning for the hearing impaired. All
classrooms have emergency information near each door.
Tornado Emergency
When a tornado warning is announced on the public address
system, students and staff must move to the most protected
areas of the building. Most protected areas are marked in
the corridor and posted in classrooms. All students should
remain in the most protected areas until an “all clear”
announcement is made over the public address system.
Attendance and the Weather
Moraine Park Technical College attempts to function under
all weather conditions. When it becomes necessary to alter
the College’s campus schedule due to inclement weather,
information will be provided to local media sources. Students
are encouraged to check the college website (morainepark.edu)
and college emergency phone numbers (Beaver Dam
920-887-4555, Fond du Lac 920-924-6600 or West Bend
262-335-6000) for current and up-to-date information.
Efforts will be made to notify the various media contacts
by 5:30 a.m. when day schedule may be affected and by
2:00 p.m., if possible due to current weather conditions
when evening schedule may be affected.
The college will only release announcements when the
college’s schedule is altered. NO announcement is made
when the college will operate as usual. It is up to the individual
to decide if weather conditions are so hazardous that
attendance at school is unsafe. Students will not be penalized
for absence under conditions that are judged by the
individual student to be extremely hazardous.
Animals Inside Campus Buildings
For sanitary and safety reasons, no animals are allowed
inside campus buildings. The only exception to this policy
not requiring specific permission of the College President or
one of the vice presidents is the use of a certified, working
guide dog when accompanying a disabled individual (i.e.,
seeing-eye dog, dog for the hearing impaired, and paraplegic-support
dog). Pets, even if held, are forbidden. Staff
should immediately make a violator aware of the policy and
ask that the animal be removed at once.
