Performance of new QuickGrind
miraGe Tools is no delusion
It’s considered a rarity to find a series of end
mills capable of generating extremely high
performance whilst offering the ability to
machine a vast array of materials, until now.
Quickgrind have launched its new Mirage
Series of solid carbide end mills that
outperform competitor products on stainless
steel, super alloys and a selection of nonferrous,
high temperature alloys and cast
iron.

For guide and conveyor rollers, igus has
developed a fully FDA-compliant design.
The fully assembled guide roller system
comprises a blue PVC tube and two flanged
ball bearings made of xirodur B180 with
stainless steel balls.
“All components used in these guide
rollers are FDA-compliant,” says Robert
Dumayne, dry-tech director, igus.
“Compared to stainless steel tubes, the foodgrade
plastic tube weighs only about one
third as much – this significantly reduces the
amount of drive energy required. Also the
self-lubricating xiros ball bearings offer less
friction than sealed lubricated ball bearings
made of metal, and the balls do not have to
overcome the resistance of the lubricant.

introduced a complete range of corner
radii for the Cupro Coated end mills.

offers a 0.75 and 1mm radius. The
larger tools that include the 8, 10, 12, 16
and 20mm diameters all include the
0.25mm increment corner radii up to
1.25mm with radii above 1.5mm
stepping up in 0.5mm increments. This
gives the 20mm cutter a huge range of
radius options with 10 standard
variants available from the catalogue.

Horn has expanded its milling cutter range
for ultra-precision machining with the
addition of new micro end mills with
monocrystalline diamond (MCD) inserts.
The extremely sharp,
flawlessly polished cutting
edges can produce a surface
quality of Rz 0.02 mm.
MCD tools are ideal for
finishing of aluminium
alloys, non-ferrous metals
and precious metals such as
gold and platinum. They are
also used for mirror-finish
machining of plastics such
as polycarbonates and
PMMA.
When using MCD
micro end mills to carry
out ultra-precision
machining of tools and
moulds, there is no
need to polish the
components by hand
afterwards. The singleedged
tools are available
as ball nose milling
cutters from 0.1 mm to 3
mm in diameter.
