The Corridor stretches from Corinth to North Creek and is unified by the region’s commitment to providing visitors with unlimited recreational, cultural and historic opportunities. There are several up-andcoming projects in the works this year, such as: Corinth is set to begin construction on the Corinth Rail Station along the Saratoga-North Creek Railway. This project has been years in the making, but once complete will offer travelers a full-service rail stop. Lake Luzerne’s Adirondack Folk School, is the only facility within 200 miles that is dedicated to the teaching of arts, crafts, and cultural heritage. The School is actively restoring the structure, inside and out, and is anticipating a fully accessible facility by the end of the year. Stony Creek’s Dean Farm Heritage Trails offers approximately 3 ½ miles of handicapped accessible trails and boardwalks. In addition to the existing paths, the Town is planning the expansion of these trails and will be establishing a community center at the site. provide visitors and residents the ability to walk or pedal throughout Chestertown. The Chester-Pottersville Trail is the latest to meet this vision. Work is underway to provide a 10.7- mile trail linkage between the Hamlet of Chestertown and DEC’s Scaroon Manor Day Use Area. A blueway trail is planned to run parallel to the path and utilize Chester Creek, Schroon River, and Trout Brook. North Creek’s Main Street is getting a well-deserved facelift. During the summer of 2017, new waterlines will be installed beneath a reconstructed Main Street. New sidewalks, lighting features and other streetscape enhancements will complete the restoration of this corridor. The First Wilderness Heritage Corridor is in the midst of planning a sixty-mile multi-modal trail, The First Wilderness Trail, which will extend from Corinth to Tahawus, providing users the ability to experience America’s First Wilderness, up close. The site of the former Board and Paper Mill, located on Route 418, is being transformed into Papermill Park, complete with a pavilion and event lawn to hold musical performances, numerous trails, kayak portage below the dam, and a riverside boardwalk and observation deck.
