take place from 6:30 - 8:30, and
desserts are offered by the parents
of Minerva Central School
students at each concert.
Minerva is located within
a 90 minute drive of Albany, 2
hours of Burlington, VT, and 40 minutes north of Glens Falls.
2017 is the Bicentennial of the Town of Minerva. In addition
to the perennial Minerva Day on Saturday, July 1, a town-wide
celebration that offers something for everyone, there will be lots
of Bicentennial-related features. On Friday June 30 the Historic
Bus Tour will depart from the Minerva Historical Society Museum
at 6:00 pm. On Saturday July 1, the 30th annual Minerva
Day kicks off with breakfast at Town Hall, followed by Minerva
Quest!, Maple Knoll Farm tours and refreshments, garage sales,
a Handicrafts Exhibition at Minerva Central School, Artisan and
Organization sales at Courtney Park, Military Memorabilia Exhibit
at Town Hall, the Kids Fishing Derby, Art Show, Museum
Opening and Citizen of the Year, and Groundbreaking for the
Veterans Memorial. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Table in
Courtney Park to sign our Guestbook and receive your Bicentennial
Commemorative Pin. The evening festivities start with
the parade leaving Sporty’s Iron Duke Saloon at 5:00 pm. The
Potluck Dinner at the Beach (Bring a dish to pass!) begins after
the parade is over. Enjoy your meal listening to the Gregson
Brothers Band while the kids enjoy the Bounce Houses, popcorn
and cotton candy. The Fireworks start at 9 pm and are not to be
missed! Sunday July 2 the fun continues with an Alumni Brunch
at the Beach, the Cutie Pageant, a Paddle on Minerva Stream,
a Concert by Fingerdiddle in Courtney Park and the closing
ceremony of the Minerva Bicentennial weekend.
