Unique as chocolate.
I was on a course about a year ago, where a lady said: “Every school has its own flavour!” I sat there for a while and
pondered that thought. I was thinking of the different types of flavour and came to the conclusion we have a chocolate
flavour.
Why chocolate you would ask, well you can mix anything with chocolate: chillies, oranges, nuts, jelly tots, raisins, biscuits
and the list could go on. Each chocolate has a unique taste whether it is mixed with white chocolate or dark choco
late. Just as a chocolate is unique, so is a child. The Bible tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go and when
he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22: 6).
Each child is unique, has different abilities and talents which they were blessed with. They have their own learning
styles. Private Christian Education is there to help develop not only the child’s knowledge but to develop those abilities
and talents in every area possible. To master every struggle and victory they come across.
Christian education is based on Biblical principles and moral values which are instilled in each child’s life. It informs,
invites and inspires young people to live the way that Jesus expects us to. This also trains children not only in facts and
figures but also equips them with the tools they need. Character traits such as honesty, kindness, loyalty, perseverance
and so much more are all taught to prepare the learner to deal with the joys and challenges of everyday life.So if you
buy that milky bar with jelly tots or that 80% dark chocolate know that each child is different. An 80% dark chocolate
does not taste the same as a milky bar with Jelly tots.

LIFE THROUGH
THE BACK WINDOW
I was blessed recently by receiving a book called ‘Chase the Lion’ by Mark
Batterson. It is one of those books that you know; you either apply it or
leave it completely. You cannot read for the leisure or just to kill time. It is
profound, it is impactful and it is meant to make a difference in your life.
It start off with the catch phrase, ‘If your dream doesn’t scare you, it is not
big enough’. That phrase made me think about my last dream that I had…..
was it really that big? My question to you is exactly that then; does your
dream scare you? Is your dream so big that you know you will not be able
to achieve it if God doesn’t help?
As human we tend to think of our December holiday as a dream that needs
to be achieved, or maybe your weight loss goal as the big dream. With respect
your weight loss goal might be a big dream for you to achieve, and if
it is going to allow you to enjoy life more go for it with everything you have.
The result of our dreams must not always be measured in Rand or Kilometres
or even Kilogrammes but rather in memories, legacy and what I have
managed to pass on to the next generation.
In your workplace when was the last time you took time to teach someone
to do something that you are mostly responsible for. But not just the physics
or the actual activity but also the WHY? When was the last time you
taught your child something that only you know? My wife asked my Dad
the other day, if he is gone, who is going to fix our things, the washing machine
that breaks, the DB board that keeps on tripping etc.
You see big dreams require and allows a pipeline. We are flying big aeroplanes
today because someone dreamed that human flying is possible. We
are flying fast because someone had a dream of jet engines being more successful
than normal rotors.
We are living the down line of their dreams. Your dream is not your December
holiday. Your legacy is far bigger that your final testament. What is
that you are dreaming about that is so big, so profound that it might have a
permanent effect on the people around you, improving their lives because
you were willing to ‘Chase the Lion’ and make it come true.
NEWS RELEASE FROM THE AHI:
Small Business Association Will Call on
Finance Minister to Ease SME Burdens
11 May 2017
Small Business Association Will Call on Finance Minister to Ease SME Burdens
As part of a delegation from Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) meeting with Finance Minister
Gigaba, the AHi today proposed four points it will suggest to the minister aimed at easing burdens on
SMEs:
• Prioritise and spearhead cabinet-level agreement to require ministries to pay SMEs for satisfactory
work done in no more than 60 days;
• Instruct SARS to develop a method of issuing tax clearance certificates to SMEs within 30 days of a
request. Where there is dispute, to initiate a fast-track, one-stop resolution department;
• Consider amending the VAT Act to allow SMEs to account for VAT on a cash basis to improve their
cash flow, while at the same time releasing payments due without further delay;
• Consider the AHi proposal to grant tax amnesty to SMEs to help bring those unregistered into the
system and ascertain how many formal SMEs exist in SA for better evidence-based policy development.
“Economic stability is precarious now,” said AHi President Bernard Swanepoel. “As capital investment
is held back due to uncertainty, procurement from SMEs will decline. Higher interest rates will mean
debt-stretched SMEs will struggle to make repayments.”
“To add insult to injury, delayed payment for satisfactory work completed has a devastating impact
on much-needed cash flow for SMEs.”
Last month the AHi issued a challenge to business chambers to urge their member SMEs to create
two entry-level jobs this year. “Whether we have two million or four million SMEs (since no one really
knows), the Each1Create2 campaign could remove a lot of people from the unemployment rolls,”
said Swanepoel. “But without adequate cash flow and certainty in respect of VAT refunds, it’s difficult
for businesses to commit to new-hires.”
CEO Dr Ernest Messina said the ideas AHi plans to raise with the minister were among the most
pressing challenges for SMEs, following the skills deficit, which is their number one concern.
“Without deliberate interventions by the finance minister where his jurisdiction allows, some SMEs
will battle to survive, let alone create jobs,” he said. For instance, to tender a bid, businesses require
tax clearance certificate. A recent survey said one in five businesses had suffered ‘protracted time and
onerousness involved in getting tax clearance certificates’.
“The minister should be working with SARS and his colleagues in the Cabinet to ensure every effort
is made to accommodate the needs of businesses most likely to create jobs and contribute to the
inclusive growth we all seek.”

LED SUMMIT
On Monday 26 June 2017 can be written into your diaries as a future day of celebration. Under the
leadership of Khozi Jezele, the Local Municipality, Dr. Pixley Ka Isaka Seme hosted its first ever LED
SUMMIT.
The Local Economic Development Forum (LED Forum) is one of the main bodies involved in ensuring
the future of our local economy.
The day focussed mainly on four things;
The need of an effective LED Forum;
Where are we now? ;
What must be the main focus areas?
The establishing of a LED Forum representing all the financial sectors in our economy.
It was a full day of activities of which the highlight was when all the attendees departed to partake in
work committee discussions. The focus for the Work Committees was to establish the needs for the
future of Dr. Pixley Ka Isaka Local Municipality and identify areas of growth. Thereafter the Work
Committees had to assign responsibilities to the relevant Stakeholders to see how best they can lead
these plans to fruition.
The day was concluded with the establishing of the LED Forum. There was common cause that at
least 2 representatives should be elected from the mainstream economical activities in Dr. Pixley Ka
Isaka Seme Local Municipality.
We will keep you posted on to when this Forum will start its activities and also how you as
community members can contribute to this Forum. For now we would like to congratulate all the
nominees with their election and wish them all the best for the future and may the fruits of their
labour be visible in our economy.
This article was supplied by Willem Hüsselmann who participated in the LED Forum as a
member of the local business chamber. For more information please contact the Business Chamber
