Patrick Cleary
GIVING BACK
& PROVIDING SUPPORT
In 2016, Patrick Cleary paved the way for a new opportunity for
individuals with disabilities in the town of Boerne, and he started
by walking into the YMCA. Patrick wanted to begin a Miracle League
in Boerne. Miracle League is a national organization that provides
opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball.
He was so passionate and committed that he inspired the Y, city
and community to join him in creating a more inclusive city. Quickly,
he became active with the Y. He joined the advisory board, became
a financial contributor, and helped to connect the right people for
the Miracle League to take root.
From his efforts, the Miracle League was established in the Hill
Country engaging 45 special needs youth in its first year. He
helped host a game in the summer and was more involved with the
first league later that fall. He has recruited volunteers, spoken to
many service clubs, and engaged city, county and school district
leadership in the program.
Patrick will never take credit, but he has positively impacted the
Boerne community and created awareness and opportunities for
families and individuals with disabilities.
