Saeed Ghani denies rigging
allegations in by-elections

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples
Party (PPP)’s Saeed Ghani has
denied rigging allegations levelled
by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-
Pakistan (MQM-P) following his
victory from Karachi’s PS-114 constituency
on July 9
On Thursday, the Election
Commission of Pakistan (ECP)
stayed the notification of the byelection
result declaring Ghani victorious
after MQM-P’s rigging complaint.
A further hearing will be held
by the election tribunal on Monday.
Speaking outside the ECP on
Friday, Ghani denied accusations
that the police had taken over
some polling stations at his
behest, saying the polling stations
mentioned by the MQM-P had
presence of Rangers and media

with Beijing Institute of
Genomics (BIG), Chinese
Academy of Sciences
(CAS), China on Friday.
As per the MoU,
Chinese and Pakistani
institutions aim to recognize
their complementary
strengths in the fields of
Life Sciences, and wish to
strengthen their relationship
for the benefit of their
students and researchers.

of mutual interest. They
stressed the need to have
mutual research work in
the field of life sciences.
Dr. Hina Siddiqui also
gave a thorough introduction
of the international
center in a power point
presentation.
In the end, the Chinese
delegation visited the various
state-of-the art laboratories
setup in the Jamilur-
Rahman Center for
Genome Research, H.E.J.
Research Institute of
Chemistry, and Dr.
Panjwani Center for
Molecular Medicine and
Drug Research. According
to MoU, both the parties
will endeavor to encourage,
promote, and facilitate
the collaboration
stations but that was done at the
request of other parties. He challenged

prove their allegations that he used
state machinery for his benefit.

detailed meeting may be
arranged with Secretary
Irrigation and Managing
Director SIDA along with
all concerned Irrigation
officers to assess the preparedness
levels and identify
the issues, if any.

powerful as of India which
could give verdicts against
the sitting governments.

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-
Islami (JI) Karachi chief
Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-
Rehman has warned of the
government that the party
would launch agitation if
the multi-year tariff of K-
Electric was increased.
In a strong wordy press
conference at JI Karachi
headquarters Idara Noor-e-
Haq on Friday evening, the
JI leader strictly condemned
to what he called sabotage of
the hearing.
He said that the JI was
refrained from expressing
the viewpoint of masses
under a designed agenda. He
said that what happened during

administration has recruited
thugs and criminal elements

Council (SBC) on Friday
demanded of the Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif to
resign in the wake of Joint
Investigation Team's (JIT)
report and threatened to
boycott court proceedings
if the PM refuses to do so.
