“MQM is the same as it was
before. There is no difference
between ‘London’ and ‘Pakistan’,
he claimed, explaining that both
factions worked together during
the PS-114 by-elections.
Ghani said it is for the first
time in Karachi’s history that such
a transparent election has
occurred. He also cautioned the
ECP to avoid such frivolous
objections, saying otherwise the
2018 general elections would be
marred with controversy as everyone
would end up challenging
results on one pretext or the other.
The MQM has requested the
ECP to order a recount in the entire
constituency and the National
JI warns govt
against proposed
increase in KE
multi-year tariff
SJA Jafri
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-
Islami (JI) Karachi chief
Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-
Rehman has warned of the
government that the party
would launch agitation if
the multi-year tariff of K-
Electric was increased.
In a strong wordy press
conference at JI Karachi
headquarters Idara Noor-e-
Haq on Friday evening, the
JI leader strictly condemned
to what he called sabotage of
the hearing.
He said that the JI was
refrained from expressing
the viewpoint of masses
under a designed agenda. He
said that what happened during
the NEPRAhearing, bolstered
our claim that the KE
administration has recruited
thugs and criminal elements
from various parties and
were using them for their
own interests.
Today, he maintained, the
NEPRA was hearing on
review of KE's multiyear tariff
for the period June 2016
to June 2023. He added that
if the authority increased the
tariff, it would be evident
that the high ups of NEPRA
are hand in glove with KE.
KARACHI: The transport
department, government
of Sindh, has signed a
Concession Agreement
with a Swedish firm, Opus
Inspection for `Vehicle
Inspection & certification
System (VICS) here at the
CM House Friday.
Speaking on the occasion,
Chief Minister Syed
Murad Ali Shah said that
chose its staff by itself
without any interference of
its government, that’s why
there was no complaint of
rigging after general elections
in India. This practice
must also be adopted
in Pakistan, he asserted.
Absar Abdul Ali, Dy.
Speaker, Shura Hamdard
Lahore lamented that there
was no representation of
laborers in Senate which
explained the non-representation
of the poor in
parliament. Political parties
tried to make voters,
but they didn’t try to make
good citizens where as a
good citizen might be a
good voter. Religious
scholars, media and civil
society should come forward
to perform this duty,
because we could get good
leaders only out of good
people, he added.
SBC threatens to launch
campaign, if PM not resigns
KARACHI: Sindh Bar
Council (SBC) on Friday
demanded of the Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif to
resign in the wake of Joint
Investigation Team's (JIT)
report and threatened to
boycott court proceedings
if the PM refuses to do so.
This was decided in an
emergent meeting of SBC's
KARACHI: Two minor
boys drowned in sea in
Keamari area of the
metropolis on Friday.
According to rescue
executive committee
presided over by vice chairman
Qurban Ali Malano.
The SBC asked Nawaz
Sharif through resolution to
step down immediately by
tendering his resignation
from the National
Assembly; otherwise, campaign
will be launched
against him. ?Tactics like
hunger strikes, short
marches and boycott of
court's proceedings will be
adopted to force Nawaz to
step down,? SBC decided.
The council was of the
view that two senior judges
of the apex court had
already disqualified Nawaz
as member of the National
Assembly and ordered his
de-notification. The
remaining three judges of
Supreme Court had
ordered for formation of
JIT to ascertain the facts
and the JIT has submitted
its report accusing the PM
sources, a six-year-old
boy, Shakir, and an eightyear-old
Zakir, died when
they drowned in the sea
near Skindarabad. Later,
and his children of wrongdoing.
The SBC has also
warned the political parties
of dire consequences, if
they malign the judiciary.
?The political parties to
remain within ethical
boundaries while commenting
on judiciary or
otherwise they would face
its consequences,? the resolution
reads.
The council vowed to
stand as shield to protect
dignity and honor of
courts and enforcement of
rule of law in the country.
It also said that it believed
in democratic system and
rule of law.
Pakistan against the anti-
the Sindh Assembly entered
the second day here Friday
in front of the Karachi Press
A large number of
Addressing on the occasion,
Pasban Karachi chapter
president Abdul Hakim
Quaid regretted that the
lawmakers of the ruling
party in the Sindh Assembly
have forgotten their true
mandate to serve their voters
and they supported a
black law to save skin of the
corruption mafia. He said
this controversial bill has
seriously dented the respect
KARACHI: Activists Pasban Pakistan stage sit-in against the amendment of NAB ordinance
by the Sindh assembly outside the Karachi Press Club.
most of the road accidents
happen due to mechanically
This is one of the key
issues his government aims
to resolve whilst establishing
system for all types of
vehicles in the province.
He said that presently,
was of view that the internal
elections in all political
parties should be made
mandatory in order to end
the hereditary leadership
in the country. Electoral
constituencies must be
made on non-political
ground; the tenure of
National Assembly and
provincial assemblies be
reduced to three years and
no member be allowed to
contest election more than
two terms, he added.
Prof. Dr. Wiquar
Ahmed Rizvi while
emphasizing the qualities
of good leaders said they
must have strong character,
integrity, spirit of service
to people with selfless
patriotism, because rise
and fall of a nation was
attached with right and
wrong leaders. People
should see a leader
through the prism of these
qualities when they would
go for voting, he maintained.
unfit vehicles on roads is
not only causing environmental
pollution but also
causing road accident,? he
said.
Shah said the sole purpose
of the project is to
ensure the safety of people
ridiculous names.
He said that the nexus of
Waderas and corruption
mafia in Sindh has
stemmed the progress and
prosperity of this province.
He said poverty is rising
steeply. People even do not
have the basic facilities of
sewerage disposal. Police
stations are turned into torture
houses to extort bribes
from people.
Sindh signs vehicle inspection,
added that under the project
established in fixed as well
as mobile form at divisional
or district levels to
