Sport England Strategy<br />

Ensuring delivery of objectives for the final year of the Youth and Community<br />

Strategy (2012-20<strong>17</strong>), alongside delivery and implementation of a new strategy for<br />

Sport England (<strong>2016</strong>-2021) that delivers the goals of the Government’s new crossgovernment<br />

strategy for sport.<br />

Active People / Active Lives<br />

Our Active Lives Survey is a new way of measuring sport and activity across England<br />

and replaces the Active People Survey. (The survey systems ran in parallel for 10<br />

months in order to fulfil Sport England’s accountability requirements to Whole Sport<br />

Plan-funded National Governing Bodies.)<br />

Corporate Risk<br />

Regular discussion of corporate risk and the organisation’s risk appetite.<br />

Equality and Diversity<br />

Regular review of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work to ensure that EDI runs<br />

through everything that Sport England does as an employer.<br />

Safeguarding Children and Young<br />

People plus Adults at Risk<br />

Regular discussion of safeguarding, with formal commitment to consider<br />

safeguarding at least twice a year.<br />

Annual Report and Accounts<br />

Approval of Sport England Annual Report and Accounts.<br />

Regular updates on the campaign and approval of overall funding for the campaign.<br />

Payment for Results-Review<br />

Regular review of National Governing Body performance and approval of any<br />

resultant recommendations.<br />

Business Partnership Updates<br />

Regular report on Business Partnership activity.<br />

In addition to the above, at each meeting<br />

there was a report from the Chief Executive<br />

Officer (including topics such as updates<br />

on organisational design and strategy<br />

implementation) and also from the Chief<br />

Operating Officer, Rona Chester (including<br />

topics such as financial performance and<br />

investment budgets).<br />

Sport England is committed to being transparent<br />

and open in how we operate. Our publication<br />

scheme sets out information about who we are,<br />

how we are organised, how we spend public and<br />

Lottery money, what our goals are and how well<br />

we are doing in meeting those goals. Major policy<br />

proposals and decisions are made by the Board<br />

and the agendas and minutes for the Board<br />

meetings are published on Sport England’s<br />

website as part of the publication scheme.<br />
