Ivo Boscarol – Mr. Electric<br />
No company has had more innovative projects<br />
in the past 10 years than the Slovenian<br />
ultralight and LSA manufacturer Pipistrel.<br />
Starting with the first serial 2 seater Motorglider<br />
Taurus-e, then winning the Nasa Green<br />
Flight Challenge with the Pipistrel G4, the four<br />
Seater Panthera which is planned to have a<br />
hybrid powertrain which Pipistrel is developing<br />
with partners like Siemens, the Alpha<br />
Elektro a 2 Seat electric trainer, up to the participation<br />
in the Hy4 Program of the German<br />
DLR and a firewall forward kit for electrification<br />
of existing Light Sport and ultralight Aircraft.<br />
The Mastermind behind all this is Ivo<br />
Boscarol.<br />
WWhen the now 62-year-old started his aviation business UL<br />
flying was forbidden in Yugoslavia so he tested his flying<br />
machines at dawn when it was nearly dark, that’s why the<br />
neighbors called them Pipistrelle (meaning bat). The company<br />
kept this name and is now one of the leading Ultralight<br />
and LSA manufacturers of the world.<br />

In the end of the 2000’s Ivo started to take interest in electric<br />
alternatives. First came the electrification of his two seater<br />
Motorglider Taurus, which soon after was certified not<br />
only in Slovenia but also in other countries like France as<br />
an Ultralight.<br />

Germany Winfried Hermann at the AERO.<br />
Ivo receives the first Chinese validated for the certification<br />
of his Viruy directly from the Chinese Vice-transport<br />
Minister Feng Zhenglin.<br />
