SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
JULY 18, 2017
Many have noticed our friends Roy and Mary Ann Whitson haven’t been with us the last
couple of months. Roy has been really, really sick since late May. Starting with ear surgery
and the meds to deal with the pain. And still two months later he is dealing with all the
problems they caused. He will be having a procedure and hopefully that will get him back
on the road to recovery.
Glenn and Lorraine Henderson became grandparents of a baby girl on June 30th. Her
name is Emily Olive Henderson weighing in at 7 lbs. 14 oz. 19” long. She is their 2nd
grandchild.
Steve Garcia drove a car in the Gerhardt Classic at the Madera Speedway on July 8th. The
car he drove was the Vukovich car owned and usually driven by Janet Vukovich. The car is
a vintage hardtop racecar and part of the ‘Legends of Kearney Bowl’. Steve actually raced
the car, passed another car during the race and got a trophy!! A bucket list moment for
him. He remembered all the days with his Dad and the Kearney Bowl cars. Now anytime
Lydia says anything about his driving his reply is ‘Well I am a race car driver’.
On July 3 rd Mike and Lynne Henenfent became the proud owners of a 2017 Corvette
Racing Yellow Grand Sport.
Ed and Joyce Kroeker celebrated 58 years of marriage this month. Same thing goes on
every year, Joyce has given Ed the same card every year (changes the envelopes once in a
while), he has not caught on yet! (Don’t tell him) This year they celebrated by getting Ed
in Steve and Jill’s car, first ride in 6 months that wasn’t an ambulance. Walking is still a
challenge so they took him to a demolition job site and watched Jill’s crew pull down a
building and then drove him to the Triangle Drive-In and then a drove around to some
more job sites. Some of you might remember my 70 th birthday surprise party at Triangle,
you know the one where Ed forgot to take Joyce to the party. Party was almost over
including the Elvis impersonator, by the time their grandson came by and picked them up
to make sure they didn’t miss the whole thing. In true Joyce wisdom, she writes ‘Make
memories while you can, don’t settle for just wishes. Every day is a gift, but some may be
gag gifts. Enjoy’.
