PAGE 3 August 2017 Behind the scenes A big thank you to Barbara and Graham Lassiter who spent hours videoing the two seasons of our one act plays and compiling a memory stick of all the photos taken during the performances, press releases, programmes and the videos. These have given the new directors and performers the opportunity to see their work on stage and to learn from their experience. Also a big thank you to Alison Macphail, who was our publicity officer for the recent season; great job, Alison! So much work goes on behind the scenes of a production from the volunteers who man the theatre during performances, set up and clear the auditorium, serve teas, coffees and ice creams, man the box office, and sell raffle tickets at the door. A special mention of our providore Lyn Howard who last month organised front of house. Lyn makes sure that there are always provisions available for workers and audiences. Up in the bio box for the first time was Dianne James who also presented her group Bella A’Cappella on stage for their debut theatre performance. The July season was ably stage managed by Lesley Sawyer, doing a fantastic job for the first time. Current committee members Many new members may not be aware of the incredible work done to make TMLT the smooth running organisation it is. A list of those who fill formal roles is printed on the back page of Titbits, but the theatre would like to thank all those who have helped to make us not only a successful lessor of the Zamia, but good at entertaining the public as well—Cath, Buckley, our President; Julie Young, Vice President; Secretary Brian Franklin; Treasurer Pam Marsh and Assistant Treasurer Rosie Powell; Membership Secretary, Sue Gates; Providore, Lyn Howard; Social Secretary, Pam Hawthorne; Web Co-ordinator Naomi Blythe; Movie organiser John St Clair; Film Club Coordinator Jenny McConaghy; and Zamia Theatre Manager Maura Gaughan, as well as Sonia Wagstaff who is on the Zamia Management sub-committee. Pam Marsh, our Treasurer, whose picture is rarely if ever published. Can be seen in the box office or racing around with her cash box under arm, demanding receipts and proof of purchase. She also takes over when Sue Gates is on holiday. And seems to do numerous other things that we don’t have space to mention. Maura Gaughan, our Theatre Manager, who keeps the theatre hirers happy and has introduced new users. An onerous task but done with enthusiasm, tact and discretion. Just look at the list of users outside the front door, or on the website, to see how busy the theatre (and therefore Maura) is.
