VOLUNTEER TREASURER - TMLT
Due to ill-health, our long serving Treasurer has had to resign. If you can do
basic book-keeping then this would be an opportunity to contribute to the
continued success of the Little theatre.
The Hitman's Bodyguard is a 2017 American action
comedy film directed by Patrick Hughes and
written by Tom O'Connor, whose script was on the
2011 Black List.
The film tells about an old killer and his young bodyguard,
whom he hires to testify against his employers.
The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson,
Gary Oldman and Salma Hayek, and follows a
bodyguard who is hired to protect a hitman who
has to testify at the International Criminal Court.
WARNING: There is some very strong language
Here is a comment taken from many who enjoyed
the movie:
Great Action & Greater Laughs!!
I just saw a preview of "Hitman's Bodyguard" last night with
my wife. We are both fan's of action and comedy and went
into this hoping it would be as good as we hoped from the
actor's involved. I am a HUGE Sam Jackson fan and an
equally big Ryan Reynolds fan. I'm glad to say that this movie
did not disappoint!
I would've given this movie a 10 if only voting on the action
and comedy but there were a couple of plot points that were slightly predictable. I don't feel these couple
of things hurt the movie much due to what the movie is being advertised as, which is an action comedy
and this is by far where it shines. I laughed harder during some scenes of this movie than I've laughed in a
long time during a movie. The last I remember laughing harder is last year during "Deadpool".
If you like lots of action and great comedy with actors with plenty of chemistry and don't mind a significant
amount of f-bombs, which if you're a Sam Jackson fan I'm guessing you don't, then drop some cash for a
ticket. You won't be disappointed!!
Vale—Joan Stalker-Brown
It is with sadness and a heavy heart
that we say goodbye to our dear friend,
and actor/director.
In a life so full, she was involved with
so many productions that it would take
a entire newsletter to record them all.
She and I had something in common
inasmuch as she had attended
SCEGGS in Darlinghurst, NSW and I
had been a music teacher at SCEGGS
in Moss Vale, NSW.
I first came across Joan in my many
trips to see productions she had put on
at Javeenbah; then one day, she joined
TMLT. From memory, her first
production with TMLT was as an actor
in Steel Magnolias, in 2011.
Then, in the following year, she produced the hilarious The
Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Town's Women Guild
Dramatic Society – Murder Mystery. She had a great cast and
was keen to direct another play, so in 2013 she produced Funny
Money. Oh, the fun we had producing lots of stage £ notes!
Joan’s last production with TMLT was the Farndale Christmas
Carol in 2014.
I found her a joy to work with, and I certainly learnt a great deal
about directing. It was a privilege to sit beside her and assist,
and generally be her gofer. Joan will have touched the hearts of
all who worked with her and her name will go down in history.
She is now up in that theatre in the sky, no longer suffering the
indignity of the illness that made her final days so frustrating.
Always a very independent woman, with strong views, she was
definitely a colourful character. Good on you, Joan; you will be
missed. RIP
